Tr price of our toy cars is what the market will bear. When a certain company started selling cars at $750+, others started raising their prices to match. Now we are in a place that the average price hovers round $450-$500 for most kits. And that doesn’t include any of the needed tuning parts.

Racers are convinced by marketing that it can't be good shit unless it's $$$$. Xray's marketing is so good that all brands have benefited. Just raise your price to match their quality. Raising the price has literally become good marketing strategy.

awesomatix belt or shaft
serpent 4x
kyosho tf 7.7 only $10 less
tamiya's top belt or shaft cars
one of the top AE TC 7.1 drivers in AZ that is doing really well, car with mods he has done is near or over 1000

There is way more machining and more expensive materials in an awesomatix than an xray, yet The prices aren't much different. There is even more metal and more machining in a vbc than an xray. Some companies just have larger profit margins, and bigger race teams to fly around the world.

Country of origin plays a big part in manufacturing and production costs as well. There are tons of factors that play a part, beyond just marketing, to dictate the cost of a kit.
Bottom line here is that VBC seems to have established a formula that is very convincing. I can't wait to see the result in a few weeks!

i figured it out, feeding data into a program using vectoral algorithms, variances compared to their other models, and some quantum physics revealed how they could do a kit like this at a rather low than expected price. result were surprizing

On a even more serious note, the price and what one gets is right, a more than good car for a good price. May all the RC Gods have mercy on those poor souls that buy this car knowing full well they could catch a glimpse of those wicked e-[redacted].
