I changed my order after reading and thinking about what I already know. To me it seems like you can dial in anything you need on the RM
for any track. I am soooo glad I changed my order to a b5. Maybe as time goes by the setup will prove the MM is just as good or better for 17.5. For the track I race on the most this seems like the car. I will try a mm at some point I know that.

yeah, I think I am going to give up on aspirations of MM. I will just keep dragging my motors across rocks and dirt lol. I dont think the MM cars will be set and forget cars, and that is what I really want.

After putting the Pucks system in my B5M I'm struggling getting the car dialed in again.

I sold my 2nd B5M (still in box) to a friend so I'm on the hunt for another one. If anyone knows of a place with them in stock please post it up here!
SRS had some yesterday

Right on. Would you care to elaborate on this a little? Was your 2.0 mid motor? What key things do you like better about the b5m compared to the 2.0?

is where i am at right now with my b5m. car was really easy to drive a medium traction dirt surface. when the track is dry it becomes dusty and traction levels are drastically decreased, in these conditions i would run hubs forward to gain rear grip, at a minor loss of steering.

car was so easy to drive everyone watching said it just looked SLOW on my TQ run for the night (ahead of a few b5r, xfactory cubed, b4.2s and some losi 22 2.0s) with this setup it didnt feel like it needed to driven hard to be fast.

on another note, using the b4.2 jconcepts wing the holes are drilled 5mm-6mm back from the "kit" marks. played with it as far forward as the b4.2 kit mark, and as far back as 12mm from them, ended up with the best feel at 5mm-6mm range.

using a shorty in the 4mm from back position it just felt like the car didnt have enough rear grip on medium bite, car seemed to swing hard on mid-exit. using a shorty i think i would go back to the 4mm trail setting to smooth it out some, and add a 1mm spacer on the rear brace.

They don't do online sales as far as I know. Hobby express cincinnati ohio has the kits in stock. Call them. 513 248 4666. I was just in there. I told the about people wanting kits online. They said they are more than happy to ship the kits anywhere. Just a helpful hint to those looking. 4 were in stock and a slew of rear kits as well

even tho total volume is larger, turbulent flow becomes the greatest factor in pack. because the holes are smaller they resist the flow of oil from bottom to top. volume flow is not pack, the resistance to flow is pack.

i terms of feel...for example, with a 1.6 piston in the b4.2 i ran 32.5wt in the front, with a 1.7 piston to get a similar on track feel it required 37.5wt to feel stable, but with a 1.4 piston and an additional hole the shock felt the best with a 35wt.

another way to show this is that in the b5m kit, it uses a 1.7 piston in the rear to use the same 32.5wt oil all around, while most people run a 1.6 with 27.5wt in the rear.

and i am not disputing that the 2x1.6 has more pack then the 3x1.4 as it also adds up to slightly more volume then the 2x1.7 as well anyway.

im most likely wrong. but oh well, its a forum not a text book.

I don't understand why people are complaining about the rear of the car hooking or not rotating enough... simple fix.. tune your car in...

play with moving your rear camber locations, your wheelbase, your gearing, springs or shock locations and tires...

I am not at your track but try and see what one change at a time does to the handling of your car. then do another change and another until you are happy with how you want it to handle.

i knew what i would do to change it, i posted that, i also said it did it with a shorty, but when i went to a saddle pack and the same setup it did not...which is the battery posted in the sheet.

TQ of 17.5 was a MM car so both can work. We have proven time after time that MM works on both low and high bite. Don't believe me....the TQ was from LSR in Sacramento which is low/med bite. It's a personal preference and from what I've seen/read some would rather be told a set up rather than test some things out. The winner of Superstock also from LSR.
