Thanks for sharing your insights. Will buy this little beast.

Too bad it doesn't read IR,
Very few chargers do accurately calculate IR.

And I have run my tyre sander of it whilst charging (though not running either channel flat out)

The joystick on my charger no longer works. I have the mini. It's it possible to send it in for repairs and if so, where?

Been waiting on a shipment from them for way too long. I've given up. So have a whirl.

I don't know the connector type but I'm pretty sure it is a standard 7 pin socket that most balance boards use.

Yeah standard balance board connector. It's a 6s balance board JST-XH 7-pin.

Thanks Dan. Just double checked and yes it is 7 not 6. I've corrected my original post.

Default Balancing problems

Hello guys..

I have an Elan RX2 dual charger for a year and a half now and overall I am really happy with this product.

The last couple of months however I noticed some irregularities with the balancing of my LiPo batteries. I always charge with SMT mode my 7.4V car batteries and now I can't get my cell properly balanced with differences bigger than usual.

Tried different packs (7 in total) and the end result is always the same

Any ideas?

I have similar happening on my RX2 on one of the channels. Not sure if I did something to break the internal balance system or something. But it is false reading one of the cells .03v low, so it never stops charging that cell (in a reasonable time) and has caused me to be tech'd over voltage at a big race. So now I just charge unbalanced on that channel and its fine... The charger is about 2 yrs old now, but still wasnt expecting it to break like this.

I'll probably use this for the time being but am eyeing up getting an iCharger since there is virtually no support for these chargers in the US. And the SKorea HQ doesn't respond with anything helpful... ever.

Problem is that both channels now have the same problem and charging with no balance is not an option...so the solution is to get a new charger??

You can email Elangears in SKorea, but dont expect anything much from them. Besides form very broken english reply, anything I have gotten was essentially "out of warranty" and pay to get it fixed by them with no ETA...

The interesting thing is, the internals of these chargers are actually similar to the internals of the ProSpec and Elangears smaller chargers... I have been pondering buying one of the small one battery DC chargers and seeing about swapping the internals so I keep the AC/DC capability but with the latest charger tech.

I really don't mind paying in order to fix my charger...like I said I am really happy with this product besides this balancing problem.

Already sent then an e-mail early this week but still no reply, also sent one to prospec just in case they can help me out

What balancing board do these chargers use?

"XH"

"EH"

or other?
