tuna rc

I am looking at an ofna mutilator and have heard both good and bad things about them. I also have an rc8b. Will the ofna do worse, as good, or better than my buggy? Im mainly using it for bashing, but I would like to start going to the track and racing.

For racing, the you get what you pay for is true 99% of the time, as it is in this case.
The RC8b is far superior for racing and since it handles very well and is pretty tuff, most likely is even better for bashing.

If i was you i would get the RC8 Truggy you have the buggy so the truggy would be the thing to get then you can use The same parts. I would not get the Mutilator truggy i pitted for a guy one night running that truggy and it was braking all night long i don't think he ever finished a race.

I raced with the mutilator for two years. It is better than alot of people think it is!! That truggy will do fine. Use quality servos and tires and you will be right there with the LOSI, MUGEN,KYOSHO, etc...

Ummmm... you're kidding, right?

The RC8 is a much superior vehicle for racing... the buggy OR truggy version. Since you already have an RC8 buggy, why "step down" in quality/engineering? Get the RC8T, you'll be happy you did. (Compared to the Mutilator.) The Mutilator is a low-end basher. The RC8T is a true race-worthy truck.

That's not to say that the OFNA products are bad... they're better than a lot of the other stuff in the same price range... but they are a VERY out-of-date design, in NO WAY competitive, and parts are scarce.

If you are trying to save a buck, look at the Hotbodies D8T. It is the best of the less expensive truggies. Also in the "budget" range the Caster isn't too bad. I'd certainly choose either of those over the Mutilator.

I bought the Mutilator when it first came out. I upgraded the servos, motor, and tires, and after that, it was just fine. Granted, it wasn't the XT8 I have now, but it was still keeping pace with the rest of the pack, and I could bash all day long with that thing seeing what I could jump higher and faster and it kept coming back for more. I was more than pleased with it, but once I got into more serious racing, I eventually got the XT8. My wife has the Muti now and even SHE can't break that thing!

Don't get your knickers in a knot.

They aren't bad from a durability perspective. Yes, it is out of date. No, it won't compete with more up to date designs, with equal drivers. A Hyper 7 won't compete with current buggies either, but that doesn't make it bad quality... so... it's a low end basher too in the buggy world. Why? BECAUSE IT ISN'T COMPETITIVE. Not because of quality or durability. It is also priced appropriately for a basher... as is the Mutilator I believe.

And you are about as likely to find parts for the HB and Caster as you are for an out-of-date OFNA. Both of those are going to be more competitive racers... but of course Mugen, Losi, XRAY, etc are a better choice.

LOL!!! Knickers in a knot I understand what your saying. I just know I had success with the mutilator and I barely needed parts. And there are upgraded parts availible for it. (carbon fiber, cnc, etc...) I run Mugen now so I can see the differents. But my mutilator did kick ass!!!

Its used and priced very very well. Will I need to upgrade the servos once I get it? Or will the servos and everything be ok? I know that it is very fast.
