I used to oil both the inner and outer parts of the air filter until i had multiple people recommend that i just oil the inner filter. I change my filters every couple of tanks, and somtimes you can see the red dirt from the track on the innermost part of the inner filter. I don't ever actually see dirt in my engine even when i break it down. My question is, should i oil the inner and outer to catch more dirt? To me it would seem that the oil on the outer filter would attract much more dirt and make it hard for your engine to run. Maybe a filter cover for the prefilter? I use losi filters with a x ray neck and has worked very well and i buy new filters quite regular, and i oil them pretty good.

How do some of you do it? would like some suggestions.

i oil both. i always have. if not the dirt can get sucked through and onto the inner filter therefore make it easier for it to get into your engine. Let it all attract on the outer and change it when it gets dirty.

Well, I learned a trick from a nitro vet, and he oils the inner completely and the inside of the outer, that way the big stuff wont stick and just clog the outer filter. It works for me, and he's been doing that way for years.

Oil both and change them often. Dirt will get stuck to the outside of the outer, but if you change them often, it won't cause an issue and you're engine will thank you.

I oil the inner only and then I put the outer over it and squeeze out the excess oil from the inner to the outer. Then I wrap with petwrap or self adhesive bandage. Works great and I cut off the petwrap when it gets caked and then I have a brand new shiny clean filter for my mains

One thing i always do though is, use some clear silicone grease on the inner airfilter (on both side edges) where it gets held in position by the housing. You'd be fairly amazed by how much crap the grease traps.

I started flipping the outer inside out and put a light coat on it. The best way I've found to do it, depends on the filter and brand.

Oil both and use and outerwear pre-filter for big stuff. Take off the outerwear filter between rounds or every once in a while on practice and blow it off with the air compressor. Keeps everything super clean.

1) Use a good airfilter oil on the inner and coat the
ends with grease.
2) Use a thinner pre-filter oil on the outer.
3) Wrap the outer with self adhesive bandage.
4) Make sure you use zip-ties, 0-rings or hose
clamps to hold the rubber airfilter tube unto
the carb and filter assembly.
You will be suprised how the self adhesive bandage
catches so much dirt and still breathes so freely.
