Ok, this is my first foray into 1/8 scale nitro. I've raced just about every class of 1/10 scale electric when I was younger but have been out of the hobby for about 12 years. Getting back into it with my daughter now

Anyway, I'm trying to get up and running before April and have just about everything.............except pipes.

Here's what and where I'll be running:

FT RC8 with a PTM modded Go-Tech 5 port

Jammin X1-CRT (BCE chassis and low CG mod) with a RB C6BB

And here's where I'll be running (mostly, probably make the trip up to PA to some different tracks too, XRC in particular)

The track is big, fast and bumpy, the members I've talked to say you're pretty much WOT all the time.

I'm on a pretty limited budget right now so I'm looking at sub $60 pipe/manifolds, the 2 that I've heard the most about are the Dynamite 086 and the 053

Give me some tips here guys, which would you choose? What are the pros and cons of these pipes? Are there any additional ones in this price range you can recommend?

I'm throwing this out there because it's a great pipe that should meet your needs. Its cheap too. The Thunder Tiger 2035.

GREAT CHOICE!!! and its not that thirsty. its a looong pipe but it will fit on any buggy.

To answer your question , The 053 is a mid range pipe which is good for medium to large size tracks with good size turns . The 086 is a top end pipe which is for really large and open tracks .Out of the two I`d go with a 053 as it will give you more power where you will most likely need it , along without sacrificing run time . But , I`d look for a good deal on a new or even used JP3 or JP4 pipes as they have the best overall performance from bottom to top end and are great on run time .

i had a go 5 port and ran it with a 086 in an xt8 truggy..power everywhere to me better than the 053

yeah i agree w/harper, i like 086(on some 5 ports at least). but general rule is 086 is for long track where top ends needed. whatever my engine lacks is usually the pipe(high/mid/low)il grab depending on track

I suggest the 086 for the Go and not sure on the RB, maybe the Thunder Tiger one.

you might just do what youv heard about(053&086) that c6 should rock well with the 053 easy, its already gotta be poerful. and the go 5 port would maybe lack a little top end so the 086 would be farely nice. its a little chancy but on ebay late tomaro i see theres a (and its title is "dyn086") dynamite 086 at $5.50 on ebay. i collect pipes so im watching but il back off if your bidding. should be a good deal and looks good condition. theres the sportwerks 053(thats what i use for backup to my dynamite 053) that can be got a little cheaper too. and power racing pipes for under $50 and they have the same 086 labels. that thunder tiger pipe looks nice too. id say you grab a couple of any of these several pipes youll be in good shape with one of your engines or the other.

Thanks for all the great info guys! So I talked to the modder of the Go and he said 086 for sure, supposedly this engine has loads of bottom end so a good top end pipe will complement it well and tame the grunt a little. I'll be using the Go in the buggy. That leaves the C6 in the truggy. I think I might try that TT pipe with it.

Let me ask another question. Do any of you guys use different length manifolds as a tuning option? I was thinking of possibly picking some different length manifolds to use as an additional tuning option for my rides.

the 086 is perfect i would spend the money elsewhere.....u will see once u run it brians motors need no help in the entire powerband
