I was told by the guy who sold it to me, to not let it get hot. I understand running temps for engines is anywhere between 2 and 3 hundred. MY friend who has been racing for a long time says if i have not got it up to 280 i can still get more out of the engine and have not maximized the performance. But i would like to keep mine on the rich side of good running. I could only get it up to 230 before i got it running right, but now it runs much better. Is this a good operating temp?? it never went over (maybe 265)

what actually happens to a engine when it reaches 300 or better???? just curious. Does it melt or something???

All the oil gets burnt off in the engine, instead of it actually lubricating stuff. Engine overheats and seizes.

Agreed. that v-spec will make plenty of power and runtime for you at around 230. Running lean will not provide enough lubrication. this can cause the engine to overheat or seize. If you overheat it you will lose compression and the engine will have a shortened life span. You have already done enough to the engine. I would definately richen it up a bit.

For you...yes. For a competitive racer who doesnt mind replacing engines more often and needs the extra performance...no. The Vspec is plenty fast at 200-230. If you dont mind going through motors, go for it. When a motor runs hotter than its designed for (300+), the piston expands more in the sleeve and wears out faster and is also tougher on bearings due to the extra temp and RPMs. To answer your question that was already answered in your other threads, yes its too hot!! Try to tune 210-230.

and remember to keep clean panty hose on...

I agree that you should be making decent power at 220-230. Also, if you are running a bit hot, you are also accelerating the wear on your bearings as well. Vspecs have a history of eating bearings so check you bearings from time to time.

ok so explain engine that like to run hot like the Go Tech engine if you do not get them up to 260 they will not run good.. Is this temp for all engine or are there engine that suppose to run hotter than others and how do the customer know this? In the engine manual it does not say running temp.. Does the manual for the V-spec say 230???

All engines are pretty much the same, unless specified by the engine manufacturer. Even then for the most part they are the same. It is the same principal/process in all engines. Depending on the matterials used the temp threshold may be different. In general I like to keep all of my engines under 250, with 210-230 being the optimal tune. If the engine doesn't perform well at that temp, you may want to look into something being wrong with the engine or tune.

no the manual doesn't say. That is why i am asking. But people here say i ask to many questions. But this is a forum. forums are for asking questions. Rctech forums is for nitro cars. I have a nitro car. so on and so on. I have a hundred more questions. But must let it out at a pace they can absorb.

Some motors need to run hotter to make good power. They also usually dont last as long. Vspecs make good power from 210-220 and up. they just get even faster as they get hotter. If someone knows how to tune one properly, its not a problem to run them 270-280-290 but inexperienced tuners will end up running them hot and wasting them
