Will we use up the 30% stock pile and then only be allowed to use the 20% for racing ?

Wonder though , how could we enforce such a rule ?

If I'm not mistaken, a hydrometer can be used to verify the % of nitro. But your right...how could you make sure everyone is on the up & up??

The same way IFMAR does. I believe Serpent makes a little mini hydrometer for testing the percentage. After the race starts an official comes to each pit man and takes a sample from the fuel bottle.

This is true

I was at the lhs when the owner tried to order 15 case of byrons 30% and they said we don`t have it......HE ask how long is it going to be.Byrons said we don`t know but all we have is 25%.........So I guess it is gong to be 25% untill they stop producing it.Then we will only have 20 I`m sure other places still have byrons and might even be able to get some...Byrons probably has it but is holding to what is left of 30% for there long time customers,Soon those customers will be without as well

The price also went up....30% was costing us $27.....Now we will be paying $34 for 25%

I said that a week ago and half of these people would not believe me. All they had to do was call Byrons to confirm.

"but i dont believe you because I can buy %30 right now and I am unable to use Google or any other informative media source to gain knowledge about what is going on"

BTW.... Have any of you 'doubters' tried a Google search? Go out on a limb...try something crazy like 'nitro shortage'

if 20 becomes the standard i wonder if those teching are going to have to keep their eyes out for peroxide and other additives that used to be methods of cheating.. just me thinking out loud here.

im sure homer will continue to stock 30% though.

Right now a case (4 gallons) of 30% shipped from VA to TX is at 115 total (price of fuel and shipping via ups combined)

man i ran 20% fuel before and the only difference was a slight change in temps, i couldnt tell a difference in power considering MOST engines manufactured today are simply over kill...

so if there is or will be a shortage in 30%, i dont think its the end all..we will just have to re-tune and run 20%! im cool with that...its better than having nothing, thats for sure lol JMHO

My LHS still has about 12 gallons of Sidewinder 30%. I run 20%, and he only had about four gallons of that left. Only had the available $$$ for one gallon at the time.

I know he hasn't gotten another order of Sidewinder since the last time I was in there (only been a week or so), yet all the fuel bottles had been relabled with pricetags that were $1.00 more than I had seen before. Still the cheapest in the area. I'm curious to see if he ups the price again. I'll be in there next week to stock up on some more 20%.

He has one dusty bottle of Byrons left (gen1 30% IIRC). I'm realy curious to see what the next order of Byrons will be priced at...

This LHS mostly supplies the helicopter and airplane guys. The county's closing the local flying field soon. This explains why his usual supply of Cool Power, Omega, Powermaster, and Byrons air/heli fuels is almost gone with no replenishment in sight.

If we're sweating the 30% nitro availability issue, I'll bet the boat guys are realy stressing, as many of them run 40-60% nitro fuels!!!
