Nitro kicks ass

Hey guy's. I am new here and I have a qustain about a car.
I am new to this hobby and and cannot decide which car to get.
I do not want to spen a lot of money cause this is my first real car.
I have 26 acreas of land and I would like a RC car to race around.
The one that I might get for the christmass [ a gift to myself ] is the

Exceed RC RAZOR 1/8th Scale Nitro RC Buggy (100% RTR) w/ SH21 Engine
Is this a good buggy and would it do fine in a race with the local track.
As i said before i am new to this hobby so i am not expecting to buy like a $500 first car.

You just want to bash go to www.hobbypeople.net and get the Z-Car Truggy for $250 it will be on the front page you have every thing you need to have fun. The truggy is RTR and all you need is fuel, glow ignighter, and batteries. You cant beat the deal it is 50% off

if your bashing i would advize RTR Z-buggy and if your wanting to race i would say pro Z-buggy. they are extremely tuff and right now they have a sell on them till the 17th for christmas. RTR = 225 and pro=200. here is a link to the site: http://z-carstore.com/catalog/

i have seen these a bunch in GA and i have never seen one break, i have seen one it a fence gate wide open and it bent the gate hit because of how hard it hit and someone flipped it over and it kept going and didnt mess up anything it was raced later that day even.

I would stay away from the Exceed buggy.

What is your budget? Also... are you truly racing, or just bashing around?

Let me make this VERY clear: you don't want to spend $500? Good... because a $500 nitro buggy won't be a competitive setup. Try closer to $2000.

Trying to race 1/8 scale nitro with that Exceed buggy is like trying to race Formula 1 with a Yugo. There ARE some entry level setups out there that would let you get into the sport at a somewhat competitive level for around $1000.

You can buy one of the RTR cars for relatively cheap, but you'll be upgrading things VERY soon. Probably the first thing you'll need to do is spend about $200 or so on servos that can take the abuse. Then the pull start/shaft start will die and you'll see that you need a $100 starter box... plus batteries... and that the engine it comes with isn't up to par with the others, so there goes another $150-$500... all of that money into a car that won't be competitive no matter what you do, so you then replace the car itself. Now you've spent all the money you would have to begin with, + whatever that car cost initially.

I'm not a "Losi Fanboi," but they are the only ones who have stepped up and made a relatively race-ready RTR package. It comes with a good quality radio, a good engine, a good car overall (although some parts are not the same as the kit parts- they cut corners in a few areas to save you some cash... nothing that hurts it TOO much though- it is still competitive out of the box.) It comes with the starter box, etc. The only change you really need to do is move the stock steering servo to the throttle, and buy a good steering servo for about $100.

In virtually every other case, "RTR" means "Ready To Replace." You get what you pay for.

And I'm not just talking to amuse myself. I made this mistake at first too. And I bought something better than the Exceed... I replaced the steering servo the first day I ran it. The throttle servo lasted a couple more days. The pull start maybe 4-5 days of running.

Now... we're at $795, to match the FEATURES in the LOSI RTR kit, which costs $700. Add $120 to the Losi for the good servo.

The Losi is a better car than the HB... not that the HB is bad. The radio is MUCH better- the LOSI comes with a $250-300 radio!

Costs? $795 for HB, $820 for the LOSI with the upgraded servo. $25 more for the LOSI, with a better radio? That's a no-brainer.

Note that NEITHER include fuel, fuel bottle, battery for starter box, battery charger, tools, extra tires and wheels, spare parts, etc. Speaking of spare parts- that's why I say stay away from that cheap car you mentioned. Get something that you can get spare parts for without waiting weeks for shipping from overseas.

This isn't a cheap hobby. If you absolutely have to stay under $400 get a Slash/SC10/etc. and stay away from 1/8 scale.

i do not believe in buying a $1000 buggy at all. i race pro buggy here in GA and almost every race im in the top 5 in the A-main and i have maybe $500 in my buggy. i bought my buggy used and all. the only thing i bought new is the steering servo hitec 7955. i am running an STS d21t engine which i bought used for $60. it is not all about the best of everything it is about your driving. you can have the best of everything and if you cant drive it will not help you at all. im running a jammin x2 right now and im thinking of switching to z-car because there is so many of them now and because i drove one and i pick up about 2 seconds a lap with it, they are great and right now they have killer deal on them, sell ends on the 17th, they normally coast $500 but right now they are selling them for $200.

i have a losi eight 1.0 b and havnt spent $1000 to be competive now i do race in sportsman buggy class , heres what i have a orion vortex dignal servo
for my steering thats $95. same quality as the bigger names and a futaba s9451 dignal servo for my throttle servo and a losi eight starter box $68.


and i already had a 12v gell cell and a radio tray stiffner $20 and one pair of city blocks $36 and a pair of ibeams $36 and a nova rossi .21bf engine. and a gallon of fuel $30

i did forget i brought the losi eight 1.0b for $295 brand new when they where getting rid of them.

thats about $757,now u
can go a bit cheaper that though.

I for one dont thing the losi is better than the D8 i swicthed from the losi 2.0 to the D8 but everone has an opinion.

I will probly end up selling it for 1 of the cars you guys were talking about, but till than will this car work for bashing around and does any 1 know what the top speed might be?
I was a total idiot in buying this but for now i will make the best of it.

Have fun what what you have,run the servo saver loose to protect the steering servo. Make sure the brake servo isn't mashing the brakes too hard that it bends the mount over. I don't know if the radio will have end point adjustments or not ,might have to spend some time on the linkages. Go to nitro off road forums top of page and look up breakin bible to get the motor broke in right. Pull start -don't pull the string out too far. Put some rubber bands from the throttle to around the needle assy. just enough tension to close the throttle when there's no servo power, to prevent run away.Watch for loose screws where screws go into metal you should have blue locktite to put on them. Thick grass is alot of drag on a buggy and will burn up your clutch quick.
I have picked up mugen race buggy rollers for about 225"including mbx6" you can get a novarossi bt21 limited"ROCKS" new for about 140 on ebay. Added 280 in new servos, won't go cheap there again.
Most buggies & truggies will do about 40 full speed, not geared for for top speed.
I have a pretty kickass race buggy , you got 26 acres to build a track trust me I'm more envious.

write now it is comeing with a brand new SH 21 engine. Is there a beter engine i can upgrade it with that will fit that buggy? I looked at there site and did not see vary much.

i would say if u want a better quality engine get a novarossi bf.21
and get the non pullstart.one too u will need a starter box though and get a,dynamite 86 pipe and it will give the bf,21 some power.


the sh isnt a bad motor though i have a dynamite platuim .12 in my gt2

the SH engine is pretty good engine but at first their sport engines are fuel hogs but give it a gallon and it should start getting better and better. also 20% last longer but 30% gives more power.

Nice, as I said before I am new to this hobby so this might sound like a noob qustain, but is this engine that you were talking about is it more powerful than the one i got in there now?

if u look at the engine specs im not really good at understanding the engine rpm though, what sh engine are u looking at by the way?
