Hi All!

Another day another round of questions...

I have found a lot of battery info, but I cannot find any solid advice on what the best battery mAh rating is for racing in stock (novice to start). I don’t want more power than I need (i.e. cheaper the better)

Motor/ESC… not sure where to start. As noted, I will run stock. I can upgrade later if I decided to run mod. What are some good recommendations for motor/esc combos?

Turnigy has inexpensive motors and ESCs. Would you guys recommend them? Can get both for less than $100!

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...approved_.html

ii. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__22402__turnigy_trackstar_120a_turbo_sensored_bru shless_1_12th_1_10th_esc.html

I understand the ESC needs to have a low voltage cutoff, but I could not tell if this ESC has the cutoff feature.

Or would you recommend something a little higher in price? I found some Novak and Tekin combos that look decent. Would like to stay under $200.00 (preferably even less).

Thanks for any advice!

I run speed passion, can find there Reventon r or pro 1.1 for good prices. the pro is great, the but the R model has a boost feature/ still runs blinky (stock class). and can handle most mods. can find a ESC motor combo for around 100 bucks. (can order directly from there site).
Also the Speed Passion are ROAR race legal. do not think the Turnigy are as of now.

The best bang for your buck esc/motor combo that I also consider really good is the Hobbywing Justock ESC and the Reedy Mach 2 17.5 motor. Perfect place for you to start in stock, the esc is blinky only so you wont need to mess with boost or anything. The esc is about $50 and the motor is about $90. Better quality than any hobbyking stuff also.

i am running the 80amp turnigy in my t4.2 with a 13.5. I actually stole it out of my sons truck which he also has the 17.5 turnigy motor(red can) I will say this, that esc is so damn smooth its ridiciouls,You won't be disappointed,if you don't run roar events then not being roar approved doesn't matter. spend the extra 10 bucks and get the set up box and it takes two secs to make a adjustment.

Yeah, that's a great ESC for stock and even a lot of mod motors. The Reedy motor might be overkill at first but definately a solid choice. SMC has a nice stock motor here you might want to take a look at: http://www.smc-racing.net/index.php?...y&path=112_114

If you're running 17.5 then a shorty will be fine. None of these will break the bank and all are good batts:

Personally I run the SMC.

For ESC/Motor combo have a look at SpeedPassion if you're on a budget. $70 for the combo is tough to beat. http://www.speedpassion.net/us/produ...SP000202&c=CMB

Alternatively just get the ESC http://www.speedpassion.net/en/produ...SP000048&c=ESC and the R1 Wurks which seems to be the hot 17.5t motor this week. http://www.reflexracing.net/R1-Wurks...r-_p_2186.html

that would potentially allow the chassis to flex giving more bite to the rear since your weight is there. just another thing to try later on.

I just used wire cutters and cleaned it up with an exacto knife. Came out clean and easy.
