BEST TRACK SURFACE

clay has sand in it naturally. the question is how much?
I would use clay and dirt and not add sand as it will be present in the clay. the mix of clay and dirt makes it easier to work with also.
the thais added oil to the track which binds it together and provides good grip but its not really eco friendly.
Blue groove is the result of the track being nicely watered and packed with little dust and plenty of cars run on it. the black line on most tracks is rubber worn from the tires not from oil/diesel like thailand

The best way to build with skitsteers r to build the mound first then I water the mound and form it with a rake then I use my electric golf cart to roll it in. Makes the jumps nearly indestructable. I have jumps from 3 years ago that have no holes in them n the track stays together very well if u keep it watered for a few days after. I would say my way of packing the track is my favorite as I water with a water truck.

Clay will always have sand.....sand rises to the surface= slick!! Get good clay with low sand content and add lots of calcium....add calcium before every race there after....Every time the sand works it self to the surface blow it off with good quality backpack blowers.... eventually the clay will lose alot of its sand and you will have a great blue-groove surface!! But most import is the CALCIUM!!!! Calcium= Blue-groove..Thats how we do it here in Florida.

to mix the soil do you guys just spread it out and then till it in?
and does the calcium carbonate not rust the steel on the RC's ? We use calcium carbonate as filler at my work.

Also go to your local coke supplier for like mickey D's and get coke syrup. Itll keep the mositure in the track and really groove up.. the calcium make the track really hard and eat the tires!
