Default RC SCALES

Just wondering what small scales would be good for weighing 1/8 buggies to get it balanced front to back and left to right. I see most smaller scales only go to 1000g and I'm not sure if that would be enough.

nine pounds is over 4000 grams. Going to have to be more than 1000 gram scales to do the job.

That's what I was trying to figure out. My MP9 is around 8lbs or 4000g or give or take a little.

Staples has some digital scales, up to 5 lbs, and roughly $40 in price.

Try a restaurant supply store but scales aren't cheap.

Thanks. I'll look into both of those. I've noticed they can be pricey! Figured someone must have a particular brand they use. Maybe no one weighs their buggies at all 4 wheels.

You can make those 1000 gram scales work. Remember, 1lb on a 12" lever is double that at the 6" mark, or backwards, 1000 grams at 6 inches is 500 grams at 12 inches. Take 4 pieces of 1x4 and a 2x4 (I would make the 1x4's twice the distance of measurement from buggys CL to tire) and lay them out so the 2x4 is under cars CL front to rear, one edge of each 1x4 is on the 2x4 making an H pattern, and the end of 1x4 is on scales centered under the four 1x4's (probably need a small block between them) and corner balance the buggy. 500 grams at the scale should be 1000 grams at the tire (Assuming you have near identical distances. The closer to perfect the better the results!). But total weight isnt important, getting the corners to match is. Hope this helps!

Thanks! I'll give that a try. I can get 1000g scales pretty cheap and I have 1x4's and 2x4's here. Only question I have is if the chassis is resting on the 2x4 wouldn't the scales basically split the weight front to rear?

Thanks Butch man. The 2kg ones would work but they only have 1 in stock and shipping is a little pricey on 4 if they had them.

Dont rest the chassis on the 2x4!! Only the 4 tires should be contacting the 4 1x4's. I would try to make the scales same height as the 2x4 (layed flat).

Ok. I'll make something up and see how it works out. Thanks again!
