That doesn't seem right considering the JC chassis is only 23 grams lighter. I'm trying to determine if the JC or factory lite chassis would be better...

The factory light is ~26g lighter than the std one. JC is roughly the same. Pick which ever one you like more. The weight difference is negligible

Honestly losing weight is the one of the last things you should worry.

get your setup working suspension wise, make it easy to drive, then add speed and acceleration, then lighten.

Well I'm satisfied with it suspension wise. There is nothing about its handling I can say that I don't like. I'm running tight lines...getting on the throttle earlier and braking later than some and still running the line. Car jumps well turns well and accelerates well...it just isn't fast enough lol. All the other A main cars were faster. Either had to be lighter or they had more motor.

ok so first do this

gear up and watch temps, pinions are cheap!

then you can do the cut gears, ceramic bearings and pucks.

I'd recommend getting some good hubs like Schelle.

how much does your buggy weigh now?

If you really wanna go light, buy a carbon fiber chassis like I did. 70-80 grams lighter!

I'd look into a better motor and some schelle ceramic trans bearings...they will create less drag within the trans.

I have a 32 pininon on it..I tried a 30 and didn't like it. I do plan on trying the 31 though, it's in the cart at A Main.

Pretty sure it was 1600g? Does that sound right?

Turnigy track star turbo. It's like a 80$ esc/ motor combo lol.

Ok 1600 grams is A LOT. You are about 100 grams overweight. No wonder you are slow.

get a better esc/motor combo.

Hobbywing JustStock and something like a Trinity 24k, Tekin RPM Gen 3, etc.

you want to go UP in pinion not down. Try 33/34 with a 72 tooth spur.

Do you know the weight of the B5M that won stock nationals? How about the weight of the car that won 17.5 last year at cactus?

I'll give you a hint...neither were crazy light...

Or they were charging their batteries at a higher amperage. Batteries also vary in weight. The battery I'm using weighs 192 grams. Slim shorties weigh even less than that. I'd choose the Factory Lite chassis over the JC only because of price.

Have you tried both? Do you realize they handle differently?
