AE vs Losi shock oil weights
I am looking for Associated oils but nearest hobby shop (still 60mi away ) only has Losi.
I want 25wt and 20 or 22.5wt in AE weights.
Looking at conversion tables I get different results.
The TWF8 site says AE 25 is kinda in between Losi 22.5 and 25 (closer to 25wt) ....... (http://www.twf8.ws/php/index.php?opt...per&Itemid=175)
RCRCR site says AE 25 is same as Losi 27.5 - literally the other way around as to which is thicker and which thinner. (http://www.rcrcr.com/index.php?optio...eral&Itemid=46). Looking at 3rd table down
They are both from testing in 2005, but I tend to believe the TWF8 site as they measured with proper viscosity equipment, where as the RCRCR site says that 3rd table down is "unofficial' values.... whatever that means.
A hobby store has previously told me their conversion chart shows the Losi 27.5 as same as AE 25. I guess they are looking at the latter (RCRCR site), which to me seems to be a less reliable conversion table. Unless it is repeated somewhere else that you guys know about?
Comments?
Is Losi thicker or thinner than AE would be an acceptable answer....

Sorry for asking, but are you sure, you will feel a difference of 2.5wt???

No I would not notice it normally, but I am trying to use a lighter oil in rear than usual to test out a handling problem....and can't get AE. No point getting something slightly heavier and thinking it didn't work and then I have lost my whole linear 'change one thing at a time' sort of approach.
It is a pain in Australia that shops stock very little stuff due to small customer base. Thus I can't always use the same oil especially if I have to buy tomorrow and can't wait for 8days of mail...
You guys have no idea how good you have it....
Plus I have a box full of various AE oils, but none this light, so just for this one-time testing I'd want to be assured of how the Losi oil I use compares to AE. Sigh...
So seeing as though AE has apparently switched suppliers, can anyone just tell me if Losi is thicker or thinner for the same value? That may help.

Thanks guys.
Looks like the TWF8 site that sooo many of us have used for soooo long is out of date with AE oils
I reckon AE 25 = Losi 27.5 now.
