I was not looking to start a conflict but simply wanted some facts about both chassis types the TL-01 and the FF-01. I didn't think I would flare up some peoples hemorrhoids but for those of you that have occasional flares have a reality check. You might think you know everything but there is always something new to learn. I understand that this is a Front drive thread and so no one has to put down the TL-01. And with that said I'M OUT.......

The FF cars is rare birds and you should always be on the lookout for a good buy.

TL-01s is everywere and not as popular as.. say the TA-0X cars no matter what model.

Well I hunted down an FF01 chassis with the Renault Clio Williams body in mint condition for $100+ shipping not bad considering the guy had it on the bay for sale for a while for $140 or best offer. So I offered him $100 for it and he took it I could not believe my luck that I got this rare car for this little money of course no electrics just the stock motor but I have all the electrics anyway. And the cool thing is a have a ton of parts for it cause I have a TA01 chassis original Toyota Castrol Celica 93 Monte Carlo rally car. BTW do you guys know what wheelbase the FF01 is. I wanna get a few more bodies for it but I'm not sure if a 200mm body or 190mm body will fit it. I've seen some cool bodies on line like the Volvo 850 which looks cool, the VW GTI and the new Toyota Celica TRD. I already have the GTI body and since I don't wanna mess up the Clio body I was thinking of getting the Volvo and the Celica body for it. Is the wheelbase 257mm or shorter. Thanks

The Clio was on the short wheelbase version of the FF01.
You just need to turn the rear shock tower block the other way around to make it a long wheel base (257mm) car

Turning the rear shock tower block doesn't change the wheelbase.

To change the wheelbase of that chassis you need to get yourself a good assortment of suspension arms (both rear and front).

On the front the difference is minimal (perhaps a couple of millimetres) between using the TA01/02 or the FF01 arms.

On the rear, the difference is significant (IIRC up to 10mm).

The TA01 rear arms can be flipped around as well to give the shortest wheelbase you want.

That is unless you want to go extreme and flip the TA02/FF01 arms. The rear overhang of the chassis will be similar to that of a 2WD buggy. Might help with loading the rear end a bit in a FWD car.
If you would run this setup in a "normal" motor configuration (i.e. as in a TA01-02) there will be very little clearance between the motor and the rear left arm (if any).

In principle all tamiya shells will fit perfectly on this chassis provided you get the right combination of suspension arms for the shell, no other mods needed. Other shells will require modifications.

Excuse me, but I won many races with the FF01 in the mid 90's, and often switched between the Clio and the Skyline.
Maybe you is confused with the FF02 ?

You reverse the rear shock tower plate to adjust wheelbase length




FF02
You add or remove a chassis section to adjust chassis length



Now who needs to refresh their memories?

FF03 Pro built as per kit with kit supplied 0 offset wheels is only 180mm wide

I was thinking about getting a hpi rsx body since it is front wheel drive vehicle. i was wondering could you put adapters on to the body so it can fit the body. Thanks D

Looks like the FF02 is a larger M03 it just doesn't belong.

Correct
FF02 uses the M03 chassis with the longest body spacer, and uses TL01 swing arms.
