I'd get 'em and try them anyway...the AE team was testing them a year before they came out and i assume they wouldn't sell them if they weren't durable...

Where can you buy the new "white" gears from? Can you buy them directly from Associated? I need to rebuild my diff's and it would be pretty easy to replace the diff gears with them fully disassembled . Do they change the gear ratio on the TC3? If they do, how many teeth on your pinion gear should you move up or down? Would the new white gears work in the old gear boxes or would I need to replace the gear boxes? That sounds like a plus plus, quiter car and smoother drive chain. I've never stripped any origional differential gears or pinion gears (I still use the ones from one of the first TC3 kits), so I think its safe to give em a try. If I do find they stip easily than I'll go back to the standard grayish gears.

they are the same size, they black ones are being phased out, you can get them anywhere now unless they still have the old stock

Definitely are not delrin. If they were dlerin they would have to be machined. These are definitely molded. We are finding them to be a little weaker. Bought a FTTC3 month and a half ago and have only ran stock. Front gear completely broke down (teeth) and the rear showed much wear................

Just an FYI....

dont really like the sound of that........
but I guess were kinda stuck with the new gears because they dont make the old ones anymore. Or mabey I'm just mistaken. How can you tell when you need to replace your R+P gears? Besides when they are missing all their teeth . Are they replacing the pinion gears too? Or is it just the ring gear?

I just thought of a brite side to having to replace your R+P gears more often . When ever you replace one you can rebuild you diff when you do. But then there's always the dark side , you have to remove a ton of screws and then bother with adjusting the differential. But than back to the brite side , you will always have silky smooth differentials and a quieter car. But than back to the dark....... ok I'll stop there, I could go on for a looooong time .

I found with the new style of gears that they do require a different amount of shims when compared to running the older style of gears. Has anyone else found that to be true?

We have the new gears in stock but I just looked for them on the website and did not see them. I will get them up there if you are having a problem finding them locally.

I've had those gears since March and have not striped them, but I haven't checked them for wear either. My car still is runs quite so I have no reason to belive they are worn out. KT: you do have to shim the gears differently and break them in to keep your drive train free.

Default Hey guys

Im stumped

Im in the middle of my weekly rebuild/inspection and am rebuilding the front diff with the MIP diff rebuild kit. Before the rebuild, the diff was "jumpy" and felt like the balls had flattened out in spots. I replaced all the balls, rings, and then tried changing the gear, but the diff still feels exactly the same .

The diff gear i put in is not new, but is in great shape.

I can think of only two things that could be wrong. Either the diff halves have deformed (steel ones) or both diff gears i tried had a little extra play in the ball slots and that is somehow causing it.

Im stumped... I hope one of you can help me out.

Thanks
