Verify that you have all the needed shock parts, the shock bags have been a bit hit and miss when it comes to QA.

Otherwise, the car comes together like a dream. I did shim the layshaft and, if I remember, the front arms, but it was a tiny amount of slop I just didn't like. Otherwise it's an Xray

Just look at the '15 exploded view for ARS parts.

If you just want to try ARS, you could get the team tamale '14 chassis. Then you wouldn't need motor mount and servo mount.

the cheapest way to upgrade is to buy a new car. to upgrade all the parts, it will cost your 300bux or so. sell your existing car for 250-300 bux and get a new one... you will come out even with a slew of fresh parts.

+1 It's not worth it to upgrade. Cheaper to get a new car. After selling my '14, the '15 cost me an additional $100.

Totally. That's why I bought a new one from amain during the Black Friday sale.

No point in paying a ton for a used t4. If I could have found a t4 used for $250, I'd have one.

BTW QUESTION:

Are there any reasonably priced xray parts from aftermarket manufacturers?

I'm looking for the motor guard and possibly aluminum steering blocks.

These parts are all available from aftermarket sources at good prices for tamiya stuff, but not so much for xray. What gives? Any sources?

Alu steering blocks are totally unnecessary and will likely just cause you problems, especially if you find some cheap aftermarket company that makes them. In 3 years, 6 XRAY touring cars and learning to race mod tc on carpet with hard barriers, I've only ever broken one knuckle. If it had been aluminum, it would have just bent and been useless anyway.

How often do you get t-boned on the motor side? Personally, I don't think the motor guard is needed, but if you want one and want to save a few bucks, here

Has anyone found that the top deck center post can create uneven left to right flex in the top deck / chassis?

Just assembled a new T4'15.

It is probably very obvious, but I just can't figure it out.

Shock mounting. To attach the bottom pat of the shock, you screw these "set screws" into the arms and let them stick out by 3mm/5mm.

On page 30 in the manual it just shows a line from the bottom pivot ball in the shock to the "set screw".

How on earth to do you attach the threaded pivot ball on the shock end to that "set screw" on the arm?

Another question on gearing.

I'm running mod. Trying to get a gearing of approx. 7.5-8.

Bought an xray offset 64p 110T spur and fitted it to the car.

On my Tamiya, the internal gearing was 1.85 and the manual had a nice chart where I could read the gearing depending on the spur/pinion choose.

I cannot find any information like this on the T4'15.

How do I rach a gearing of 7.5-8 with the 64p 110T spur, or do I need to buy a nother size?

Attach the pivot ball using a 3mm hex wrench.

IR for T4 15 is 1.9. Pretty simple to calculate your required pinion from that. Pinion = (Spur x 1.9)/Ratio
