I'm pretty happy with it all but I mostly bought all of it because the first ESC/motor combo my LHS sold me was Tekin and I just kinda stuck with the brand since I had the Hotwire and know how to set things.
But what difference would I see by trying other brands? Better performance, similar performance for less money, or what?

I had to squeeze all my T5M cups to free them up.

If so, basically a lower turn motor is going to have a higher maximum RPM and be more powerful. But the power is similar to what you see with internal combustion engines. Horsepower increases with higher RPM but torque may be sacrificed.
But then you adjust your gearing and usually end up with more acceleration and or top speed from the higher RPM motor.

Before I start this build I wanted to ask this question.
I have heard some people say that you don't really get that positive feel or engagement that the screw is tight. Is this an issue? I generally build my kits with the a Makita Hex Driver with the auto stop clutch. I usually set the clutch at the lightest setting and hand tighten by feel.

I'm not flaming or even arguing but why are you so against Tekin? Other than a HW motor in my SCT, everything I have is Tekin.

The brakes on the Tekin just aren't as smooth as HW/Orion. Major factor for me with 1/10 2wd (not so much in my 4wd).
Also another main gripe for me; they have an issue with their firmware. Take your pinion off the motor, add some timing (not blinky) and you'll hear an arc/missing sound from your motor when held at constant throttle just off neutral. Tekin is aware of the issue (as of 3 months ago since I mentioned it to Randy) and they still don't have a fix. They say it's not an issue but I feel otherwise.

By far my favorite response.....I'm taking it , stock is the division I'd race in with a 17.5 motor. N that's what I'll go with....thx for ur replys there very much appreciated.
Btw I to use , tekin have rx8( d812)and a rxs (d413) combos ...n have been very happy with them. But I'm sure there are more cost effective combos out there, but tekin has treated me well so far.....
