I found out what the problem was with the clicking. On the rear input shaft close to the small bevel gear there are two bearings. Between those bearings are 3 washers. The more I drove the car, the more the drivetrain freed up. I had to move the three washers from the front bearing to the rear bearing. This pushed the small bevel gear into the larger gear creating a better mesh and no clicking.

Default One more thing

Should I worry about getting the new gear sets? Where can I find some info about this? What is the difference?

If you want info. on the new gears you could try calling hpi usa. 949-753-1099 and they can help you out. Infact they hooked me up with my new gears today.

When this was done there was no more play in the spur, and I didn't even have to add any spacers . If you don't understand that let me know and I'll show you on the instructions
I think I get what you mean... I'll try that and at the same time, I'll order the SHP-16 from square..

Cheers..

Default Stripped Servo Gears

I stripped a couple of servo gears too. turns out I had too much EPA on my radio and this caused the servo horn to hit and bind with the servo case during full left turns. You may want to check that out.

But where did everyone find out about these new gears. Did HPI send out a notice or put something on their web site? Was there a problem with the original gears?

I take it you haven't run the original gears much. The bevel gear teeth on the one way would stip off very easily in a moderate crash, or bump.

I've been running the original gears for a month now. I didn't even know about that problem.

Yeah, the ring gear had a tendancy to break when mounted on the one-way. HPI came out with these new gears as a cure for that problem. That, and a new backing plate for the one-way.

I don't know where everyone found out about them. I found out here.

There's nothing wrong with the 1st version gears when running a ball diff up front, the problem is when the on-way is used. I broke 3 sets of gears with my one-way before changing to a ball diff and I haven't broken any gears since, must have been going for about 5 months now.

Default Pro-4 success

Guys;

Just wanted to let everyone know that I too had a very successful weekend with my Pro-4.

Qualified 5th overall in Stock Sedan out of about 30+ entries and finished 3rd in the "A" main (Hitec Race).

I've been running a one-way the whole time, and I've also hit the wall on two occasions hard enough to bend 2 CVDs and the gears are still fine. I guess I'll call and get some free gears anyway. I recently purchased some extra bevel gears, part # 73501, just as replacements. Are these the newer versions too?
