sanwa = airtronics?

Toyota = Lexus
Ford is the same as they also own Jaguar.
Sometimes the re-badging is to do with somebody already having that name in a given country. Other times it is use an existing brand name.
You used to get KO radios under the Kraft name along with Novak servos.

maybe because of brand 'name' image?
airtronics sounds better for u.s market
www.sanwa-denshi.co.jp -> SANWA
www.airtronics.net -> AIRTRONICS

ya it's about marketing and market segmentation. not sure whether airtronics only exist in US market? because the brand 'sanwa' is being used for asia market

It's about the same for "Black and Decker" as "Dewalt". Same maker, different name.

another posibility, SANWA is been used by another company in u.s
so they forced to choose another name

You seen a Camry parked next to an ES330?
I pity the morons that shelled out the extra bucks for the L on the front/back/wheels on that Camry.

But why are they doing that..? I bet that has to do with the legal issue....like if 1 company get shut down, at least the other company with different name can still going....just wondering

Is you will not find in an Acura, the exact Honda branded over. They are all relatively unique cars to the brand.
For example:
Lexus ES330 = Toyota camry, Lex LX470 = Land Cruiser
Infi G35 Coupe = 350Z, inf FX = Nissan Murano
No real body changes.
Now, Acura TL = ??
Acura RL = ??
Acura MDX = ??
RSX is the closest, I think it's Civic based, bt it's REAL far from THAT tree!
Plus, Acura doesn't nickel-and-dime you for every damn option. They give you everything. Optional is Navi.
Do I work for Acura? No.
Do I like 'em? Yup.
Do I wish I'd gotten the TL last June and not this 15MPG Toyota Tundra v8?
Damn straight.
Back on topic, alot of times they use names that mean something, or sound cool in the area they're marketing after. I'm sure Airtronics would mean NOTHING over there, like Sanwa would mean nothing over here.
Like VW = SEAT in some places in Europe

As far as I can see Airtronics is only in US market - the rest on the World has Sanwa.
BTW - VAG (Volkswagen Audi Group) owns VW, Audi, SEAT, Skoda and Bugatti! Quite a few of them share the same platform = same chassis, different body (just like Tamiya ) and different pricing.
That has gotta hurt with the current gas prices!
