This race was the worlds qualifier. The next qualifier will be the nationals in 2009 for the 2010 worlds.

Alright, I had a different understanding of how it worked.. lol.

So only ~40 drivers make the '08 worlds?

From the US yes only the top 30 make it. Excluding the ones who made the main at the worlds last year, Mark, and Scott.

I believe the host country gets an extra 10 spots.

6 Americans made the main last year, here is a nice chart from Neo-Buggy.net

I will give you that Maifield could win with any car, if you give me that Adam Drake could win with any car. Bottom line is that if there were any questions about the RC8 before the Nats, there should not be any more.
The RC8 has now proven that it is ready to take on the world!!

Just like the 8ight already has.

The "big 5" (Losi, AE, Mugen, Kyosho and jammin) are all world class cars, and we know damn sure that AE will not release a 'bad' car.

Actually, per IFMAR, each bloc gets 32 spots for events with 150 entry limit. Of those 32, 2 per bloc country at a minimum are required. (ROAR has US and Canada) Also, host bloc receives 10 additional.

ROAR chooses to fill the team with previous A main participants (WC event in Jarkarta) and previous WC champs from ROAR and then pulls from the qualifier list.

so, we have 42 spots to fill - 2 of which are required to go to Canadian national qualifiers - although, Canadian Director and ROAR President are in negotiations regarding number of spots to go to Canada. We have to wait to see the participation level of their upcoming nationals.

Complicated.. and even I can't get a clear answer on this.

"To finish first, first you must finish"..... that was definitely true at the Nats. Congrats to Adam for putting together a complete race.

I also wanted to give credit to Ryan Maifield for setting a pace that no one could match....his car and driving were incredible to watch in the main.

When his car stopped while in the lead, it came back to the pits and his O.S. SPEED engine was still idling perfectly....he just had no control with the radio. It appears something went bad in the electrical system. We unplugged the power and re-connected and it worked again... but too late. The second time the car stopped it came back and the steering servo had failed. That's gas racing and we'll try again at the next race.

The other AE cars at the race were: Cavalieri, Saxton, JR Mitch, Skidmore, and myself. All of them made the 1/2 finals and should be qualified for the Worlds. I was 7th in the 1/8th final after bumping up from the 1/16th.

The super diverse mix of equipement is always really interesting in 1/8th buggy, there are even tons of different engines used in the A main. The worlds are really going to be amazing, too bad they are still a year away. I'm happy to see josh Wheeler doing good, he is slowly climbing up the ranks, and hopefully will bring Xray a number one finish soon!
