Too many people think there is big money in R/C.
Consider this........Michael Jordon got how much for being the "icon" for Nike?
How many people wear shoes? 1 billion? 2 billion?
Next ask yourself.................how many people participate in R/C?
1 million? 2 million? 10 million?
If this is the case wouldn't the highest paid R/C Pro make about 1/1000th what Micheal Jordan made off Nike?

Happy birthday Ryan from me and the rest of the LRRCC committee and club members here in Sydney Australia!!!
i think if the "top" guys get paid well then good for them! to witness in person how good they actually are is a rare treat.
if their sponsors give them race bonuses for good performances (i assume this is contingency?) then giddy up!! i've been lucky enough to witness Ryan and a couple other "top" drivers first hand and as noted before there job is only partly up on the drivers stand with the controller in hand.
to always give every passerby time with questions and chit chat and to be always approachable even if their own racing isn't going as well as they'd like is outstanding.
in comparrison to sports like tennis or golf where players can come 50th in an event and still pocket a couple of grand i think an R/C driver pulling below 50K as a base salary is laughable.
anyway all the best Ryan hope you have a great racing year and a better 26th with your family and friends. hope to see you again Down Under soon mate

I think a more politically correct question that Schreff somewhat answered is what is the average salary of a professional RC driver. Then it does not have to be personal. It might sound weird but check out cnn and other media outlets and we can see what different jobs are paying. RC driving is just much smaller population of those who can do it for their occupation. I still have my son in training to tell his high school guidance counselor he wants to be a pro rc driver. Think about it, that is what this hobby is missing that others do have. Why aren't there those Pro RC driver summer camps where you can go learn from the experts? BMX, skateboarding, motocross all do it. Unless I just have not found it yet.

I agree, this would be a great idea. Maybe a way to make a lil extra change for the lower tier pro drivers. I know they even have paintball clinics. Why not RC?
