Default Schumacher Mi5 evo

Given the release of the new Schumacher Mi5 evo, I like to start a dedicated thread. I am just putting the electronics is for 21.5 blinky asphalt racing in Melbourne.

The built was super easy and the instructions fool proof.

All the info for the Evo is under the regular MI5 thread. No real need for a new thread.

Good move...I have just built mine and running 21.5 open so running 44/18 pinion which just fits and gives me 4.4 fdr at club level but have champs coming up that require us to run 21.5 blinky so be interesting to compare setups etc.
I have got the grey belts, blinky mount, front dcjs, 2 degree rear arms and rest is manuel set up...first run at club level next sunday.

To frank, if the Serpent guys can get their own 3.0 dedicated thread, despite their being nowhere near as many changes to the platform as there has been from Mi5 to 5evo, then a dedicated thread for the 5evo is fine, IMO.

Built mine with one shim, but have swapped out the kit o-rings for Tamiya blue competition ones.

Have you tried the Reflex Racing ones?

I am running 70/33 in blinky mode. Setup at the moment is standard except 3000wt rear diff oil. Testing at the moment and weather permitting might have the first club race tomorrow.

Thanks.

I should mention that these will give low bodies (although are legal to 115mm on a 10mm block), so you will need to trim quite a bit of the splitter and sides back. I have about 4-5mm of splitter on both my Speed6 and LTC-R.

Easiest way to trim them back is mount the shell up on the car, with wheels and tyres, and battery, and set to 5mm rideheight on a setup board. Then run a Sharpie pen around the board, holding it flat down, drawing a new cut line on the body. Then cut to the line

HiH

Haven't tried the Reflex ones, but I would assume they will do the trick. Pretty much its a case of the stock O-rings being a bit like memory foam, and don't spring back quick enough once deformed.

Another blog post detailing first few meetings with the evo... becoming more impressed with how the car is working, a definite step on from the 5.
(Also attached some setups to the post)
