Uh...turns out there's a reason "verry" few people use this frequency here in the US. It's NOT LEGAL for RC use according to the FCC site (just did a little checking prior to buying). This radio WOULD NOT be accepted at any major race as it is specifically not allowed per ROAR rules and pretty much all the major events (including non-ROAR events) subscribe to the ROAR rules on housekeeping issues like this.

Here's a nicely formatted listing of acceptable RC frequencies and applications http://wvrcm.tripod.com/fccrcfreq.html

ROAR rules at http://www.roarracing.com/downloads/2006rulebook.pdf. Reference rule 4.1.5 on page 13 specifically banning use of 40mhz.

Now, if someone was buying this radio with the intention of converting it to Spektrum operation via appropriate module and receivers have at it. But realize the module, receiver and crystals you're left with really need to be sold overseas.

Sorry, but this is an important disclosure item as many potential buyers might be ignorant of these facts. I wasn't sure, so I checked.

True, but any one could drop in the Spektrum module and it would be fine...
