On-road racing in CT besides RC Madness
I am curious if there are any on-road tracks in Connecticut besides RC-Madness. I am still trying to decide if I want to run my 2wd buggy or get my 4wd touring car running again. There are a tons of off-road tracks in my area, so I was wondering if there were as many on-road.
I have nothing against RC Madness. I used to run indoor there back around 2000-2001. My only problem is how far away they are from me, so I am hoping for a track a bit closer.
I am not even sure what touring car kit I have. Almost positive it is an HPI, and I thought it was an RS4 but it is shaft drive, and I remember my RS4 rally was belt drive.

RC Hobbies and More in Winsted, CT.
We have offroad outdoor and indoor carpet onroad. We ran mini offroad on the carpet this past winter, but we are about to set it up for carpet oval. It's only a 40x20 track so touring would be tough. We are going to be running 1/10 and traxxas rally open.
1/10 oval will be restricted to 17.5 brushless or 27t brushed with a 6 cell NiMH limit. This does 2 things......keeps cost down for racers and it also levels the playing field.
1/12.....aka Traxxas Rally Open oval will be pretty much anything goes.
The area is pretty tight so touring layouts are tough, but they are do-able.......especially with slower cars and good drivers. We'll have to see what the utilitarian opinion is once we get rolling.
Carpet is not ozite. It is a low pile commercial grade carpet so fresh rubbers work better than foams.
Traction compounds are not permitted for the indoor track. We do allow the use of Simple Green..........it does work.
Onroad will most likely be Sunday afternoons starting in June.

That's good to know that you are running a carpet track, and keeping the cost down makes it a big plus with the wife.

1/32nd scale racing
BRFR Hobbies in Wallingford, CT now has a new 1/32nd scale 8' x 22' raised platform track for HPI RS32 or dNano on road racing. The track is always open. As of now, if you buy the HPI RS32 from them there seems to be no charge for racing or practice. The cars are small but a lot of fun. They sell the cars for $105.00 ready to race. Its a cheap way if you want to try it out. Joe has demo cars to try out and also rent. Right now we are trying to get something going on Thursday nights for adults and Saturday mornings for the kids and adults. The Track is a convertible oval and road course with a Robitronic timing system.

Closed the offroad in the middle of the 2011 season due to lack of interest. Closed the entire facility after they held the nationals back in September due to idiot neighbors. Unless, of course, Kenny decides to restart over in Willimantic.

I feel it is moral imperative to also mention that onroad racing is FREE for the entire month of January 2012 @ RCHaM. (transponder rental not included)
