DodgeBoy did you say that you were cutting your own window mask? Your lines for the chrome edging are tight.
On another note I have a question about using automotive paints on lexan. Aside from the paints that we all know work on lexan, like Faskolor and Createx, Pactra, Tamiya and the House of Kolor, I was looking for more options. I have asked my local paint shop about getting some automotive laquers for use on Lexan. There were two responses. 1. That getting Auto Laquer was difficult and that 2. It was very brittle and would spatter like eggshell. I have heard just the opposite about the laquer. I know somewhere there are guys using some HOK paints that are automotive. This paint shop reccommended using and automotive urethane base coat instead and, of all things he had a Lexan shell from an 1/8 scale oval car that had been sprayed with it. The paint looked like it was holding up pretty good to a beating.
Anyone else using an alternative paint source?

As for paint I use PPG and I get it from a place called Model Car World They have many different correct colors I can paint three bodies with one 2 oz bottle of paint from them http://mcwautomotivefinishes.com/ that is the site I get it from . As long as I scuff the body I have never had paint come off.

I'm going to get into VTA racing, and have a few questions, probably more cosmetic then functional. First, What's the size of the Tires and wheels that I have to buy in order to have the them look flush to the sides of a Mustang body. I'm looking for a TC4 or TC5 platform for the body to sit on. Second whats the biggest size diameter I can use?

Those using the Testors paint in a can are you applying thin coats and if so how many coats per color? I did a body and the first wall I hit it flaked off instantly. I used soap and water to clean and windex in between painting to get the greasy paw prints off the body from taping it. Will Shoe Goo eat away at the paint? Can I spray another name brand on after the Testors?
Sorry for all the questions it bugs me and wanna get to to the bottom of this before I paint another one

Here are a few pictures of what it looked liked when I painted it, I copied Andy's theme

The paint did flak off at the hood and did not have Shoe Goo to protect it. Could have this been prevented if I would have put some on. Would heavy coats play a role in this as well?

the Regular Testors Enamel Paint is not designed to be used on Lexan car bodies , for it does not adhere to the body . You half to use the Testors Lacquer based sprays and scuff the body out before you paint them.

This should be the whole line from testors in the Lacquer sprays and some are period correct colors .

It was the Lacquer paint, maybe I put it on to thick. That was my first body and will do another one.
I warmed up the paint in hot water and cleaned the body with dish soap. The only thing I did not do with scuff up the body. What are you suppose to use? When using shoe goo does everyone use drywall mesh to prevent the body and paint from cracking?
