Dust mask only filters out just that: dust. If you want to protect yourself from dust AND the nitro fumes you will need these:
6200 Regular Mask

Awesome when racing indoors. I don't know why more people don't wear them indoors. I won't race without it.

I don't remember where the report was, but I do remember reading an article where they linked dust and cancer. Makes sense; things that iritate your body often contribute to cancer, and dust definitely iritates your air ways and lungs. Masks sound good to me, you only live once and you have to take care of your body if you want it to work correctly for a long time!

Oh, and I still ended up with a sinus infection. Doctor's theory is that the fumes irritated my sinuses through my eyes, which gave bacteria somewhere to do its work. A lot of others have been sick with bronchitis, etc. the week following major indoor events.
P.S. Nitromethane is a heart stimulant. Can and will cause heart attacks in certain at risk individuals. Wear a mask indoors!

If someone laughs at you for using something that makes you feel safer: he/she needs major help!
I see pros wearing masks all the time. Especially indoors.
You tube airbrushers and you will see the guys spraying createx/faskolor etc wearing a mask. Why its water based?
I wear a regular dual filer mask outdoors while pitting and marshalling. For the same reason that you see lawn cutters wearing them.
Indoors in questionable air quality I use:
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=66554
with a 20% coupon that is always available: 12 bucks for a little precaution.
Good health to you.

It is only when they are on the pit lane that the exhaust is sent away from the pit man

GOD MADE DIRT AND DIRT DONT HURT.
I would love to see your marshal in that mask. You dont need no mask unless your doctor say differently

pneumoconiosis is not just in the coal mines, it can be caused by a number of issues including man-made carbon out put, i.e., Nitro exhaust.

Dust? try some water on the track. Properly maintaining the track can go a long way in the dust department. The fumes smell good
Oh and the steak you ate after winning the main.....well it probably did you more harm than the dust and fumes.
If you think it helps you then use it, if it makes you feel safer then use it, if anyone makes fun of you who cares. I dont personally use them but have seen people wear them and think nothing of it. It is a personal choice.
I will stick with the steak and fumes

Those disposable masks serve almost no purpose at an indoor event. You need a respirator with the organic vapor filter. I wore a 3M respirator with an OV and P100 filter at the Canadian Indoor Offroad Shootout.

I plan on taking a half face respirator to PNB this year. After having respiratory issues the last to I really don't care if I look like a goof or not as long as I can breathe.

You are all a bunch of sissy's, SERIOUSLY!
