Clear coat/protective coating for lexan paint job?
Is there good clear coats or protective coatings for use on polycarb bodies? I've heard some people using shoe goo, but I'd rather spray. I'd like an aresol can!!!!!!!

i use 3m rubberized under coating. lasts forever and helps keep the body from wearing out quick. just make sure you back you finished paint job in a silver or a white before you spray it

Where the body pin holes go, we put some of that woven fiberglass drywall tape and some shoe-goo. (or "small job liquid nails.) Helps prevent cracking!
On areas that may rub (over the pipe for example) we put clear vinyl tape, or plain ol' electricians tape, or just more shoe-goo, (or "small job liquid nails.") Clear and flexible, and tough. Be sparing in the use... the weight can add up pretty quick.
One thing you DON'T want to use is a "hard" finish because it will crack and peel off, taking your paint job with it... and be careful that the paints are compatible! If not, it will cause some pretty interesting results (cracks with whatever color is behind showing through. I painted a guitar like that once, using that INTENTIONALLY to get the odd finish... Enamel and lacquer don't mix for example. Not sure about the different types of paint for Lexan and other paints...

The Rustoleom is flexible enough and is compatible with polycarb paints? The 3m sounds interesting.

i use permatex high temp silicone and the drywall tape method DOMIT mentioned....but i take it a step further and do the wheel wells and anywhere i know its gonna crack gets a layer of tape and silicone...its a little ugly from the underside...but my shells last me over a season
