Losi clutch question
#16
Just a quick question. Will harder springs make your car more snappy on the bottom? What are the flaws of runnning a harder spring.

If I want to run the Losi Clutch setup on my Xb808 what parts would I need? I went to Amain and they do not sell the complete setup on in parts and then I went to Team losi website and did not find them..
Thanks

Silver Gold Green Black.....DO NOT use silver tho...they WILL eat the shoes for breakfast.....flaws of running a stiffer spring are excessive heat excessive slip and a shoe that just wont last as long.

and pending on what clutch bell you want to run you Might need to look into an adjustable motor mount.....im pretty sure the 808 does use the forward position motor mount anyways...but cant say for sure.

I am running 4 alum shoes and either green and gold or silver and gold. Both are killer combos. Stay away from the black they are way too soft. the green and gold was a little smoother but a little soft on torque with a .21. replacing the green with silver let the torque loose. As long as the inner diameter of the clutch bell is ok it doesn't eat the shoes. When too much of the inner diameter gets ground away I find it eats shoes every race day, Replace the bell and fixes the problem. Just my 2 cents

alum slag does not take away from the ID of the bell......it add's to it....and when you clean it its a matter of .02mm of steel you have removed....Silver Springs EAT shoes....there's no 2 way's around it....Dynamite max life....KH 7075....carbon wont last a heat.....im not tryin to be a jerk...but the silver's are way too stiff for most any application.

We have ran Max Lifes, Losi Long wear and KH 7075 shoes with 2 gold and 2 silver in buggy and 4 silver springs in truggy for over 2 years with very little wear. Derek has ran several 2 and 3 day events including the 45 minute mains with one set of shoes and they still looked good after the mains.

I tried to run 4 silver springs with my Picco in my truggy. What a disaster that was those springs take to much power to make them lock up. Now golds or greens and you got some good snap going. 2 green 2 golds is a good place to start if you need more snap then go with 4 golds. Less snap go with 4 greens the black and the silver are either to lite (blacks) or to heavy (silver). Now if your running a C6 or a speed 4 silver might work. You will need that kind of power to make them lock on the bell.
Integra, Which OFNA CB are you using can you post a link to it? I always wanted to try a vented bell not sure which one would work with the Losi.

C6 and speed will also slag out the shoes running silver's....its not a matter of how much power....but more thats the shoes SLip too much with big power .21's and they burn up.......this is the OFNA bell i run....the 4 vent is a hair or 2 shorter in depth then the 3 vent so it makes it easier to shim when all said and done

I have a question, is there anyway to tell what spring you have by looking at them? I cant for the life of me remember what springs I had in there last year.
