Probably been covered, but I didn't have time to look through the posts. Do we get a random number? Or can we specify a number if its available (666 ) when we pay via the website?

your number is assigned in the order that you sign up....i believe right now your number would be somewhere around the 140-150ish range

So Rob King didn't take the "King's" (Petty) number, #42?

If its based on where you finish for the year, they might as well start me off in 4-digits.

I like the concept but I can see confusion potentially happening when numbers are switched from one year to the next, and all the drivers and tracks having to remember to change the numbers so the wrong information (or only partially correct information) of race results isn't being submitted. With all this being rolled out in the middle of the year, that may also lend itself to the confusion because everyone will be having to remember exactly when to stop using the old number and starting using their new number. There is no end of the year calendar to remind us.

Hopefully, they have a plan....as I hate to see any unnecessary labor put towards this.

Your membership number will never change its your number going forward until the end of time. Even if you opt out for a year and resign back a year later its still the same number. This will eliminate any extra work at the local track level once you have your number added to your name its done no more work is needed.

What we are going to do is have a special number plate sticker for the top 10 or 20 in points at the end of the year. They will be able to run this special sticker with their rank for the entire year following the result.

Richard "The King" Petty's number was 43, not 42. (Had to break out my inner redneck for a second). :-)
