The USVTA is trying new things all the time, so you never know...but imo, the motor rule works great and I dont see it changing anytime soon....now esc's are being tested and we will see where that goes

any other thoughts on new motors?
Roar races are down in count yes..i believe thats due to the cost of racing a Roar event...Just curious why esc's are tested, but not motors when they are available....I dont see usgt saying Novak only..?

the option should be there...I'm not alone questioning this.

testing ESC's is really Easy. A scope and cheap tools Poof fool proof test. Motors are not that easy to test. Each current method has flaws.

From talking to some people who test motors it's not always the motor with the best number that is the fastest. there are just too many variables to make sure the motors are equal.

The spirit of this class it to take the cost of buying the equipment of the week out of the equation. Pure Clean Fun racing is best left simple.

If you want different rules change classes end of story.

just stop. if you don't like the rules, run a different class - plain and simple...

USVTA has been a class that is being picked up and growing all over - you tell me when that has happened to any other class of TC aside from when every track went blinky over boosted speedos..

stop trying to pick a fight with a rule that isn't broken - as much as I personally don't like novak stuff, i do respect the rules and use their speedos in my car now (and not just my USVTA car)..

did you miss the article/conversation about Tony Phalen's car at the last ROAR nationals?? I'll refresh your memory anyways - Tony's car was 100% USVTA-legal and he still won the race...guess what that means? no clue? it means that USVTA option works and there really ain't a need for other motors in the class

These were the first guys... We had a heat of 5 and one of 6 I believe.

Thats great to see that many VTAs show up on the 1st race! It'll be your largest class before you know it.

Knowing that everybody is running the same motor is one of the most attractive qualities of USVTA Racing.

Indeed, both the 2012 ROAR Carpet and Paved Nats were won by guys running USVTA legal cars. End of discussion.

I don't have a problem with the rules the way they are.

Ok..How about a tuning question?
Has anyone tried using shorty lipos to get better balance in their cars?

Default Modified VTA

Our LHS does not allow motor or tire rules. He will not discuss the issue so we have to adapt. But if we were allowed we would run USVTA rules to the letter. I for one do not like fixin what ain't broken. Mike's in Dallas is the closest place that runs their program following all the VTA rules. They also have a MOD VTA class for others to race. The fun of racing and the comm oratory is still there. I say "make the most of what you have" M2c
