Default LRP SH .28 for Tamiya 801Xt?

I found a tempting deal on a new, unopened SH .28 for $130 and I was wondering if anyone has had experience with these in truggies? And is this even a good deal? I can't find a new one to compare. Please and many thanks :-)

That is a great price on that engine. I have run one in my Kyosho truggy and it is very potent. Great power from low to high RPM.

Well I was a little late on the draw I guess because the listing on ebay has been deleted. For reference though it was claimed as an SH LRP .28 8-port engine. I don't know if that helps. But the engine is gone now anyway ;-(

I did find different engine. It is the Ofna Hyper Mac-Star .28, and comes complete with the tuned exhaust, manifold and slider carb for $120. How is this for a deal?

I understand that it is run on Ofna's Hyper truggy. And it seems to have had positive reviews in that chassis.

The so-called SH 8-port is identical to an LRP Spec 3, and the Losi 454. All the same..

You can get Losi 454's new dirt cheap on ebay. I suggest looking up one of those..

The Ofna Mac Star had a pretty c.rappy reputation.. I personally wouldn't bother with one.

Shoot, I already placed a bid on the engine. Well I suppose you live and learn. If no one outbids me, I'll have to take it for a go.

EDIT: For reference, this is the actual engine I placed the bid on.

I appreciate the the info, but I jumped the gun on a Mach .28 for the truggy. Do you have any other equipment in stock like servos, radios, and wheel/tires? I still need all three to complete the parts required for the kit.. :-)
