Take it apart & soak/flush in a tub of fuel then blast with brake cleaner. But if you know dirt has gotten in you know it has gotten to your bearings & rod bushing already.

Take motor apart
Rinse every part clean with motor spray
Use the crank to spin and flush grit away from main bearings

i would recomend just taking the filter assembly off and running it in the sand...That V-spec must be bullet proof and made of kryptonite...
Hell you probably could just fire it up and hold it wide open the submerge it in the bath tub (i call it auto clean) ....through in some bubble soap for some extra flare!!
JK!!

Remove the engine from the car. For the outside I use a brush and then I remove the glowplug and spray (upside down) WD40 though the carb. Then I put it for 10 minutes or so upside on the bench to make sure all the WD40 is gone. Then I mount the plug back and the engine in the car..

p.s. are you anywhere near Bossier? If so, come to the big race there NEXT weekend (not this coming weekend) and I will see if I can help you. Just find me... I look like my pic. My truck is hard to miss too... (RC truck that is) it is the only bright freakin' yellow 56 Ford body on a truggy.
