Looking at some pics of the axle bearings that come with the EVO V, i noticed there is a golden rim around them,... does it have any special purpose? what is the difference between the golden rim ones and the regular ones?

the bearings in the upright will be the same as the ones in the MSX? that means they aren't as small and won't break as easy as the ones in the EVO IV?

Awesome first day....
the maiden voyage of my Evolution V took flight today. the car is awesome! very free drivetrain and the kit set up (i usually deviate from the kit set up, but this time around i decided to try it) was very very good.
it was a cool breezy day at the Tamiya USA track. The track was freshly sprayed. the track had medium traction. The car had TONS of steering all around and plenty of corner speed. The Tamiya track was ran backwards which meant the end of straight away meant diving hard into Esses instead of the left hand sweeper.
It was very easy to throw the car into the corner, throw it in there very hard and it was still controlled. letting the throttle off a tad bit more and the weight transferred quickly and car rotated. the car ran great with a one-way...and for the spool lovers out there... this car will be simply awesome once you figure out your set up.
Rod... it was too bad you left early. Fred came out and took my EvoV for a spin... and he enjoyed driving it. he threw it into the Esses and it never got upset. Houda took it for a spin too..and seemed to enjoy it also.
i can just imagine the possibilities with this car...

If anyone had the option of buying just 2 optional toe blocks for the Evo 5, What would that be? Im leaning towards:

I think the B,C blocks makes the car very versatile....
I only think about the rear of the car when talking about toe changes... because i think the front toe can easily be adjusted using ur steering rod lengths...
at the rear
Combining B,C,D,E with XA u can have 1.5/2/2.5/3 degree toe in
All the toe you would need in the rear for most tracks i think...
I would do the same given the options.

4.5 in Evo 5
Hi, have anyone tried Novak 4.5R in EVO 5?? I m planning to sell off my Cyclone to get the Evo 5 but from what I heard that belt car are better for mod motors & shaft car are better for stock motors. What problem will I face if put in the 4.5R? Thanks in advance.

To those inquiring about the bearings, the gold-ringed bearings plus the bearing spacer in the hub has help tremendously with the life (errr crash resistance).

Double diff
Can anyone tell me if it's possible to put a dubble diff in this car. I mustly run on carpet, and the experience a give with oneway is that most cars brake out on the rear. Just to be sure before I buy this car.

Anything is possible, most of the parts to build a diff comes from existing cars. Just by looking at the posted pics and limited info only the diff halves might be the only new part, but would almost be out within a week after the kit if not the sametime.

The rear diff could be used in the front as the bulkheads are identical front/rear.
I tried installing an Evo4 spool and it looks like it won't work regardless of all the combinations of spacers that I used. Booo!

these hopups (minus the screws) dont add up to much. maybe $30-$40?
