We have a great track in the Toronto area of Canada. it's 100'x60'.

there are some "death cookies" you know little dirt rocks that cause our cars to spin out. we're having a tough time packing the dirt down.

there is some clay in the mix however it's not an even mix, some clay some topsoil. it's hit and miss.

any suggestions

we're thinking of

- dish soap
- calcium chloride
- liquid calcium
- just water?

what to use to do the "main" packing. we have a water-filled roller for the general up keep

To get the track nice and hard and smooth you will have to do a couple things first for best results since you have an outdoor track you will need to work on it at night or late evening whatever you perfer first things first make sure the area you want to work on is nice and wet but not muddy make sure u rototill it so the dirt is ground up good next shape the area with whatever you are going to put in there i perfer not to use a roller just cuz they are so heavy but get yourself a vibra-plate or packer and start from the center of the lane and use a half pack method make sure you have enough water in the dirt otherwise you will have a mess and wasted your time. After you finish with the half pack take the packer and proceed to do circles with it in the lane this will cause the dirt to pack very hard this type of pack will give you a hard hard pack surface with a little of loam but remember before you water the track broom the loam off the track this will reduce pot holes from forming

whatever happened to having a real off-road track with ruts and it getting torn up, and not the "on-road with hills" crap the most track do now? The changing track conditions was a highlight of racing for me when I did off-road

I think that OFFROAD is supposed to be like the word suggests, rough. Downhill Ski racing doesnt worry about "ruts".

there one thing that man made is god for keeping my tracks packed and its called a "LAWN MOWER" lol. it works the best for me but im down in FLORIDA so terrain is totally different.

Ya, a Lawn more with some slick type tires on it, make sure you take off the power deck!

I was thinking one of them vibrating packers also
