LRP SXX StockSpec V2 ESC
#316
Thinking we all have the same problem, if you fail in the update process the ESC is broken..
Have a feeling the only way forward is to send it back to factory AGAIN to fix the situation.
Unless someone has an idea how to factory reset the SXX? the software will not connect to the ESC any more it just flashes

version 44 thirdparty motor
I ran my SXX in a 1s WGT with 10.5 used a speed passion v3 . Setting s were 0,8,10,4 and final rollout of 43mm I started the day testing with rollout of 62mm. Over a series of runs i dropped and dropped the rollout till the motor was singing. Wish i could the X12 10.5 1s rotor to go as well as the SP.

Trying 4.4
Hi all.
Have loaded 4.4...
I used the 4.2 and the esc for the first time on the weekend...
3,7,6,0..Duo2, 17.5, 5.8 fdr, large flowing out door track...Xray T3, gear diff
Wasnt very fast, cogged heaps, ran coolish though..45deg c...
any suggestions to settings/gearing?
On another note..
0,8,8,0, LRP recommended start point.... Killed a Murfdog 17.5 in 1/4 of a lap..I didnt even get off the front straight..Went slow as they were both brand new ( esc and motor)..eased brakes on, set at 75% on radio..Pop goes the motor
LRP recommended start for 17.5, of 5.0?? I use fdr 5.7 with Hobby wing extreme stock latest version, very agreesive settings so I thought 5.85 would be conservative.
Question..was it the motor or esc?

Totally unrelated to the SXX SSV2 ESC, But with MurfDogg 17.5 motors and Tekin ESC's, we are running a 6.6 FDR with great rip and little to no fade thru 6 minutes.

why is the new combo pricing so high?
The combos are out in May and I am confused by the pricing. On Tower Hobbies, (who generally has very low prices on stuff), the SXX StockSpec V2 combos are priced at $417.99. AE has the retail set at $479.99 which we know no one ever sells at.
Yet, the Speed control by itself is $223.99 and the motor by itself is $84.99 at Tower.
That total comes to $308.98. So if buy them together as a combo, you pay an extra $109.01. Sounds like a plan!! Am I missing something? Does the new combo come with 2 motors and drive the car for you?

Got a couple of questions which I'm hoping someone (LRP would be nice) can answer!
I put the SXX in, with the std sensor cable etc, and at full throttle, the motor was cogging. No-where near as bad as what the version 1 was, but enough that you could hear it (flapping) as it went past down the straight. And it was obviously not getting full power.
This happened for the first 2 packs I put through it... then ran fine for a while. It has decided to do it again randomly yesterday... SXX with the latest firmware, std sensor cable that they supply, 17.5 X12 motor, 5200 50C Thunder Power batteries. All brand new, and it's cogging. My question is; Can this be fixed via software updates... or is LRP's quality control that bad, that one ESC can be fine, the next in line cogs?
Also, anyone notice that these ESC's and motors draw a TONNE of power? I've started thinking that even though I have 5200 50C batteries, perhaps the cogging is occurring because there isn't enough power on tap that it can rip out. Over a 6 min race, this draws out the same (if not more) amount of power as my TC spec run SP 5.5T. This is with the "competition capacitor" installed. Should I try a larger capacitor?
I have had the ESC turn off the boost because it has tried to draw power and tipped the battery voltage below 7.4V. It is only on burst pull, because if you switch the car off, and back on again, you have full power for another 10 laps or so, and putting the battery on the charger will show it as above 7.4V.
So another question... What is the difference between LRP's new Fat Cobra, and Big Mama batteries????
When the ESC is working, it is a BULLET... and so drivable... but unfortunately, all the problems from version 1 aren't fixed... and unless it can be, I'll be going back to the tekin.
Cheers
Gav
