Default Tuning issues when using carb restrictors?

I am using a os speed carb on my engine and i am wanting to run a 6mm restrictor on it. except it is making tuning very difficult. is this a common thing when running small restrictors? when i was running a 7.5 in there i wasnt having these problems but the engine was a little thirsty.

os speed carb go tech restrictors, nitro juice 30% new gen fuel, sts 3 port mill medium plug

Smaller restrictors are harder to tune. Less air going through means that a change to a needle setting is a bigger change in mixture. Tune in smaller increments.

Thanks Brad. i think i will step up the size a little. Mr Haggard helped me with tuning it yesterday. still showing some personality though. after tuning he recommended using a hot plug. I am working on getting some of them. I know this tune wont last forever since the engine is in the late stages of a full break in.

Got any hot long std plugs laying around?

Unfortunately the only standard plugs I have are in the cold range.

What I recommend is buying better engines. The Alphas that Gary runs for example. (I'm about to order one, as soon as I decide WHICH one... but the little red headed one would be perfect for your buggy.)

Red heads are always fun! The orange headed ones are a bit more raucous.

Now the ones that are green headed, they can get down right nasty!!

OH! Sorry, wrong forum!

You guys are talking about engines......
