losi8ight, the RTR pipe will work fine. Just make sure you retune your motor when you get your new pipe.

Thanks seapirts I am just going to use this pipe for now and save up for a new 053 soon. I spent all my money on stuff for the 8ight but a pipe. So I was just making sure the losi pipe would be ok. Thanks again.

Hey Trebor,

If you race at RCE in Mass, don't worry, you can use the engine that came with the car. There isn't really a novice class (yet) so you'll still be running with the pack.

and the 400 dollar engines just get better mileage

yesi do race at rce. wow somebody knows where it is. i did go to the one in templeton but then i went on the website and they said its closed and neveer oening back up. i dont know. i wish it was open because it is a sick track. do you go to rce? inspector?

Hey guys I have a real quick question for you. I just bought a king headz radio tra stiffiner for my 8ight and I was wondering if you have any suggestings where would be the best place to mount my PT becasue I am not able to mount it where it is supposed to go becasue the radio tray stiffiner has a curve in it where the hole go to place the Pt. Heres a pic

I would just take a piece of lexan and mount it under a couple screws and pop the transponder on to that.

Hi everybody I am a newb to this site a 1/8th scale buggy I used to race MT and I was wondering if I could ask a couple of questions about 1/8th scale buggys. O buy the way I have a losi 8ight now I know what these things are but what exacley do they do. Sorry I am a newb and I do not know much so I figured what will it hurt to ask right.
OK
1st- What is camber and what does it do.
2nd- What is bump steer and what does it do.
3rd- What is Toe and what does it do.
4th- If you have any pics on what these things are and if you could tell me what they do you do not know how much I would appricite it.

Roll Center- Refers to both the camber locations and the mounting point for the suspension arms. By adding or removing shims from under the camber ball stud or raising or lowering it in a shock tower, you will change the rate of camber change. By changing the height of the suspension mounts, the weight transfer and roll rate of the car is altered.

Camber- The angle of the tire in relation to the ground. A tire that is perfectly up and down has 0-degrees of camber. A tire that has the top leaned away from the centerline of the chassis is said to have positive camber. A tire that has the top leaned in towards the centerline of the chassis has negative camber.

Caster- Refers to the angle of the front axle/steering knuckle in relation to the ground.

Toe In/Out- Looking down at your car from overhead, if the front part of your tires is closer than the rear, that is toe in. If the rear part of the tire is closer, that is toe out. By using toe-out on the front of your car, it will initiate a turn more aggressively. Toe in is not used on the front. On the rear of the car, toe in increases rear grip. Toe out is never used on the rear of the car.

Traction Roll- A condition that occurs on extremely high-grip surfaces where a car will flip or roll over when cornering.


Bump-Steer- Refers to the steering geometry changes that occur when the suspension is compressed.

Pack- How firm or soft a shock feels when compressed with a specific shock oil and piston

Droop- The down travel of a suspension arm once it is fully extended.

The green labeled part of the image is an example of toe-in. Toe in is when the leading edges of the tires (front or rear) are closer together than the trailing edges.

So now my question is when would I have to adjust the camber and caster when I am at a race like for what track conditions or just when would I need to change it like what are the signs of adjustment needed to be done.

losi8ight- your diagram for caster is wrong. thoes links you are pointing to are for adjusting the toe in/out for the front wheels. the caster is in the front spindles.

I used a few of these setups,and really didnt have to change to much camber or Toe. Hope this help.

anybody using the associated starter box? i called a track two hours away from me and the owner said that quit a few of the 8ight drivers are using the ae starter box because the wheel is taller. any feedback would be great
