all this talk about pros running sportsman is classic

and not to start anymore s$%t but if you want to prevent it then when the entry form is put up for next years race it needs to be specific about who can run the class i.e. "no chassis, fuel, engine .........sponsors allowed" and then you wont have a problem.

As far as tony pattishall and the other guys go. they really are great guys and i was one of the ones bustin their balls for running sportsman that is for sure! but at that point its up to the race directors to make the call DURING Qualifying to bump them up to pro or let them go on running sportsman but decisions like that need to be made early and quick, NOT after they win the main.

as for the race itself bobby moore and crew did a great job on the track. however the event just needs to get up to date with how to start qualifyers, using the points system to seed the mains, and how to measure a starting grid, a 25ft head start for TQ when everyone else is 3 feet apart is pretty excessive. but anyways it was a good event, the format is perfect and i look forward to coming back next year

Great guys don't do what Tony did. Easy to Blame it on the Race Director.

I can, so I did???? I guess I could have jumped track all day since no one said I couldn't and it wasn't on my sign up sheet. Lame

To all of you that attended.....I hope you had a good time and will be back next year.

And thanks for the opinions and constructive criticism....I know the RD learned a WHOLE lot this weekend. To have never ran a race anywhere close to that large...I think he did a great job, and I know it will be smoother and faster next year.

Leon....thanks dude. And I do agree that it should have been fixed on Friday. However, the RD is pretty new to racing on this level and doesn't know alot of the regional fast guys by name. He did tell one of the guys in question that the sign ups were like the honor system(if your pro, run pro....if not, run sportsman) since he didn't know everybody. Next year all of these issues will be addressed long before anyone signs up.

Thanks again to everyone that helped pull this race together and make it happen.

What's up Leon! I tolded Lucky I saw you at the race. Congrats on your Truggy win and 2nd place Buggy finish again.

I say keep up with the this years sheets of the laptimes and laps and next year if someone sign up for sportsman and they were turning pro laptimes and laps, don't let them race sportsman.
Actually the fastest Truggy in the pro main was Shannon Amos. He led most of the race until he lost a wheel... and he has no sponsors.

I guess I will have to give my 2 cents on this as I am extremely pissed about what happened and to be quite honest, am questioning the whole race team concept and sponsorships.

As everyone knows, I am part owner of Caster Racing USA. As everyone also knows, we have been working really hard to make a good product out of a bad name. The product has improved tremendously over the past year and to be honest, the majority of inventory that we own was bought and paid for out of my personal pocket.

I was told that the way to grow the name is to get people to run your products and give out prizes at races, so I bought into it. As a result, we ahve a few really good team drivers and we have signed on some people whom we really have no idea what they are about just to try to get the name out there. The goal is to have them be a representative of the company and make the product look good and as a result, they get a discount for spreading the word, moreso than by winning races. So that being said, I disagree about the whole sponsorship deal because how else does a new company get people to run their products on the track? I also disagree with the chassis sponsorship because I would not have a prayer against my partner or team manager in pro, so why would I even want to race?

However, nothing infuriates me more than how the prizes were handled. I was under the impression that they were to be given out to sportsman drivers or like a lottery to the crowd. I really did not appreciate being the laughing stock of the race when one of my donated rtrs that I personally paid for and gave away to try to help promote the S.I.C. race was given to a team Kyosho driver. If he had any class at all, he would have said thanks but no thanks, as I am sponsored by Kyosho and maybe given it to a true non sponsored driver....

(But what happens if he races the rtr he won? He is at that point more sponsored than my team drivers?)

and maybe the track could have given him a cash equivalent or something.

If I would have been told the situation was that only racers get prizes, I would have given out a top of the line kit, but I wasn't sure how the prizes were going to be done. I figured that if someone random won it, at least they could go home and drive the thing. I will take responsibility for that being new to the industry...

That car could have done a good thing if it would have went to a true sportsman as he could have at least driven it to see what he thought or maybe given it to a nephew, or son, or whatever, but instead, it will probably end up on ebay and I feel what transpired and how it transpired did more damage to Caster than if I would have just said no.

From the way it sounds, obviously the track officials knew when handing out prizes what the deal was...and I thought that the top prize was a twister motor anyways?

There were more issues, but I am keeping them in house.

and to be 100% honest, maybe it is us that is the problem by being too liberal with sponsorships and I am looking into that right now so I will take part of the blame for that. I will also take blame for not understanding the prize structure and in the future, I will know better. I just remember being in car stereo competitions and they were done completely differently. I should have done more research... I already picked out the prizes last week for the RC Pro finals and they will be much better...

Well nonetheless I had a great time and the track was absolutely AMAZING!! I really enjoyed it.

+1 with Leon.

The race had a few glitches, but I am sure things will be worked out next year as I have mentioned what needs to be fixed.

Thanks for a fun event, see you next year and Leon congrats on your runs this past weekend!
