Li PO's in starter Boxes ??????
Has anyone tried it? If so do you need to use a voltage cut off regulator??
I have 2 starter boxes and play with electric now and again.
My Ep 4200 packs are not holding up well when used in my buggies due to the little use. I do have a Li Po charger so thats not a problem.
My concerns are i might pull the voltage down to low without a voltage regulator.
Also can starter boxes handle 14.8 v ?? I would of thought it wont be a problem. My starter box uses a 750 motor.

I have the Ofna truggy start box that has two motors in it and I am running two 4s 3750 packs in paralell for a total of 4s 7500mah. I can tell you that it lasts forever. I usually rcharge the packs when I am done using them for the day as I don't want to take them down too low myself and so far the most I have put back after a days use is about 1,000mah. I am using these packs bcause I already had them. The starter seems to be handling them just fine and I picked up the starter used to begn with. Plus it has a ton of power, it will start anything with ease. It's also very light.

I use an HT in my Mugen box. It is a lot lighter and gives awesome power. No need for a regulator.
It lasts about 2-3 race weekends for me. Just keep an eye on the voltage.
I usually charge it as soon as it feels like it's losing power on my balancing charger.

Im current using a 14.8v Lipo pack by Losi made for starter boxes. It gives a very nick kick.

been running the HT's as well in a Mugen box wouldn't use any thing else now

Again, it WILL NOT change how many amps a motor draws.
As for using them in starter boxes I have been using a 4s 4000 mAh pack for 2 years now. I race every weekend April-October and only have to charge the pack abou twice a season. Of course this will vary for each person depending on how long it takes there car to fire up, get it lined up properly, and a myriad of other things.

It is the only way in my opinion. gell cell weighs too much and nimh discharge too quickly. i easily use my common sense lipo 5 or 6 race days without even checking the voltage and when i do check it, its still at 3.7-3.8 per cell. This is a nice and cheap upgrade.

Will this one work. I have a 6s 22.2v 2500Mah lipo that I have that is not being used. I will be getting the OFNA truggy box.

Apologies. Sorry for wording it wrong.
Basically I just wanted to stongly suggest using a battery intended for starter boxes. I used to use two 7.4V 6000mAh(120amps) wired in series and I was burning up the motors every second weekend for about two months. Ofna true start and Losi box. First I replaced with stock, then both with Team Magic motors, then Traxxas Triton, then Ofna Truggy start motors.
I switched to one 14.8V 2100mAh(32amps) battery and put the stock motors back in both boxes. All is well now several months later. Although not as strong as the two battery arrangement, the single battery still has plenty of torque to break in engines all day long.
