All we know is rumor and speculation. We have hints from the parties involved but nothing firm to talk about honestly. Most of everything we "know" was spoken in passing during conversation and we were not told explicitly what was going on.

It will be big new trust me. If the rumors are true you guys are gonna flip.

Here it is:

Thunder Tiger Corp yesterday announced plans to acquire Serpent Model Racing Cars (Serpent MRC), the Netherlands based manufacturer of the world's top brand of radio-control race cars.

"Our board meeting approved the takeover today. President Lai Chun-lin and General Manager Hsieh Tsai-yun will fly to the Netherlands in early July to seal the deal," Thunder Tiger Spokesman Liu Chao-ching told a reporter by phone.

Thunder Tiger will pay US$9.5 million to acquire the European-based Serpent MRC, and will allow the company to continue to operate under its current name.

Serpent MRC makes radio-control race cars and last year it ranked as the world top brand and came in seventh in terms of radio-control car sales. Thunder Tiger came in sixth.

The acquisition follows six years of successful cooperation between the two firms. Serpent allows Thunder Tiger to make 48 percent of Serpent radio-control race cars on an ODM (Original Design Basis) and has the rest made in the Netherlands. After the buyout, Thunder Tiger will take over the production of the other 52 percent of Serpent race cars.

"We think it is a very good deal because we are paying US$9.5 million to buy a company whose net profits was US$1.5 million dollars last year," Liu said.

"Our short-term goal is to sell Serpent model race cars to Europe, and long-term goal is to create new markets for our products and lower product price," he said.

Currently Serpent, with a staff of 70 designers, sells 90 percent of its products in the US.

Thunder Tiger has factories in Taiwan and China and a distributing center in the US and Germany.

In 2006, Thunder Tiger's revenues totalled US$37.6 million and net profits hit US$6.5 million.

Nope, thats not is. Its something that the locals will really like. Unless Eddie was referring to that ,and had us all duped, it will be something that will effect local racers directly.

No, that's it. Basically the new Associated 12th scale was designed by Serpent. And since Serpent will be distributed along with Associated products, it will be easier to get.

Absolutely. The new 12th scale that Nick mentioned will be available as a combo package with a Duratrax ESC rebranded as an LRP entry model ESC.

Im completely cool with Serpent developing Associated's products. I just have a hard time smiling with Thunder Tiger buying up all the good companies. American or otherwise.

So your long post about Thunder Tiger buying Serpent was not a joke? Can you post where you got that info. I still think you are pulling one over on me.
