thanks for the info guys....jeez so much for "The M-Chassis class features low cost, fun and competitive racing. " I'd have to invest > ~$350 just to get started:

M Kit - $115 (cheapest one)
Reedy 253 BL motor - $90
ROAR approved BL ESC - $60+
Servo - $10 (cheap ol' towerpro, turnigy, or corona)
TCS legal LiPo - $30
Legal tires (1016, 1028, or 1029) - $40
= $345

Go to the sale section of this forum and check for M06. I remember there is a Pro and an R for sale.

Also are you racing at the Tamiya track? Or is it a local TCS event?

You may want to check because rules can be more relaxed.. Eg more flexibility on ESC, other motors than Reedy.. Etc

cost...its all relative. some kits alone cost more than that.

the M06 is definitely fun to drive once you figure it out..

It's a "Tamiya Championship Series Regional Race" and "Tamiya TCS Rules Apply!"

and yes true the cost it's all relative, I'm just concerned that I'd build this car, race it once, and let it sit and collect dust because it's hard for me to consistently drive an hour to race at the track...

I'd be looking at how many M06's raced in the last few years TCS, they are a car that will require a lot of set up running to get to work well and unless there are a few other racers that you can get some insight from you could be on a long road ahead.

As for the cost of the build, you'll also need to factor in a good servo saver, dampers and springs and possibly a ball diff.

Thanks, I'm probably going with a M05 instead and I did dig up some older for sale threads and PM'ed the seller...and yeah there are a plenty of other stuff I'd have to get for the car....but racing it's just a completely different world, I've been in the hobby (bashing) for like 2 years and I have quite many cars/trucks and RC parts/tools.....but to start racing it seems like I'm ill-equipped and need to buy all sorts of things....

Haven't raced one in a couple years. I've stuck to the 05 but once Tamiya went to brushless the M06 lurched way out front on high grip carpet. Our first TCS event is in February. I'll see what setup info I can get.

I agree, I feel in the right hands it's faster than an M05. On asphalt, I am faster than M05 drivers with similar skill level.

My carpet set up is similar to asphalt, slightly more firm.. I posted it in early post.

Car handled very well considering..... that on tear down I found all sorts of cracks in rear of chassis / shock tower mount etc. I had heard that the cold weather makes the plastic more brittle, guess it's true.

I ordered all new A B D E parts from Banzai to rebuild the chassis.

Default Fastest Brushless Motor Allowed???????

Does anyone know what is the fastest Brushless Motor you can run in the M-06?(the smallest pinion is a 16-t). I'm thinking a 6.5-turn is the fastest for the gearing.......?

Thanks

The ESC, depends which one your car came with? If it's the TBLE-02S then yes.

TCS: I believe the oil shocks do have to be Tamiya. However steering linkage, screws etc are not an issue, unless you go to Japan for the Nationals
I take it, if standard hard case lipos fit in the compartment, stick pack lipos will fit as well?

Thanks!
