What Tamiya tyres are a good starting point for high grip carpet?

Was going to take the S-Grips off my M05 and try it on the M06R, but I have a few Tamiya Mini sicks and some M-grips.. just running short on new wheels so I don't have much to experiment with.

Thanks.

I use the Tamiya 53215 with the 53204 inserts on carpet with my M-06 Pro. Works fine so far

A couple of years ago I had my M06 (non-R version) dialled using S-Grips on the back and Type A Slicks on the front, both mounted using the Tamiya dark grey/black inserts (I think they're the hard?). Now that I have an M06R that's where I'll be starting with tires. HTH!

Cheers,
Mike

Carpet setup:
i'll start first carpet training on saturday. will let you know, what tires i will have used

but i do have an "beginners" question, which makes me a little bit ashamed

during my last race i made following experience:
gear diff installed : when i accelerate from 0 to full throttle the car begins to turn left, no full throttle is accepted. this was not was i was used to before. i cleaned the bearings, set up new dampers etc... but nothing helped out.

except changing back to my M-05 ball diff., then everything was fine again.

so the question is: (and please apologize in advance )
what do i have to change in the gear diff , to be a smoother diff.
shall i fill it with oil ? if so , which ?
or shall i leave it , blank, or build once again how mentioned in the instructions, or use diff grease , or ... ?

thanks for your input.
cheers
Flo

hm thanks, i will give it a try.
but it's strange becuse it worked well for 1,5 years
might it be , that even a gear diff has to be reworked after some times?
nevertheless i will rework it as mentioned in the manual..

thanks again

I'm foreseeing (wishfully) an M06 release with the Alfa Romeo 4C. It would be a perfect fit, rear wheel drive, super light weigh small sports car. Perfect for an M chassis

Hello,

It's been a while, did some testing last Sunday in preparation for the 2014 season. Some interesting findings (for my track and electronics).

* Springs made no difference in lap times, but the feel was different. Softest springs felt sluggish. Hardest (around 22 pounds, tamiya gas car springs) made the car feel very good and fast in the chicanes. But lap times... same.

* Heavy battery made the car feel more planted and easier to keep on the line. Lap times same as light batteries.

* Tire combo the biggest gain. I started with a set that ran 23 seconds and found a set in the 20+ seconds.

Time to play with the diff, shock angle, width, camber etc.

I like your scientific methods. Keep us posted..

Ok, never messed with a M06, but I just bought the "R" model and need to know about shock length. It's going to be used on high traction carpet and I know about the oring trick for the other minis, but this R has be baffeled. I know it has the two different length shocks for front and back, but the rear hop up mounts makes be wonder if I change any length. So can I get some thought on it? Thank you.
