Also there is a reason why we don't use solder posts, which is the fact that solderposts increase losses, direct connection to the PCB like it is realised on the SXX is best for performance.
Out of curiosity, would you trade a little bit of performance for easier solderabilty (right word?)?
Sorry to dig this up again but I was rewiring my sxx last night and I had this thought.

Would it be possible/sensible to have the PCB holes open on one side in a U shape like the X12 motors instead of having closed holes? It would be a lot easier to solder that way and I'm guessing there would not be any significant loss
