If the Ofna doesn't have a magnet it probably has a spring wire to hold the bit in. So no is the answer to the question, they do not lock in to the handle like they would be with the elec. driver.
The bits dont stay in at all. I can put the bit into the handle, turn the handle (bit going down) and the bit falls out.

I have the OFNA bits and they don't have the groove or magnet to secure them into place. I dremeled a groove in the hex for the drill to snap into. It's possible they changed something, my bits are probably well over two years old with heavy use and still good condition.
