I start at 58 all round for out low-medium asphalt. Some guys I race with run them full size out-of-the-box. Carpet guys run them much smaller.
I run a 1S CRC Gen0-X 10 LE WGT-legal car on asphalt and carpet...
For club racing on asphalt, I initially cut CRC WGT spec tires to 56mm and run them down to below 52mm. Switching the f/r tires side-to-side for even wear. Over this sizing range, I will use 3-4 different rear ride height blocks and front end spacers to maintain a 4.0-4.5mm ride height across the bottom of the whole car.
CRC makes the most adjustable front & rear ride height spacers.
For major meets on asphalt, I usually would start around 53mm. Track grip pretty much determines how small I can run the tires down to.
In ROAR-legal 1S WGT, the sizing of the tires is EXTREMELY important.
