Yes , the cars finish the races pretty much as clean as when you first put them on the track. There are different types of astro , most of the stuff is sand filled (like ours ) and its a pain because it wrecks the cars with sand getting al in your car . We had a crane lift our astro and we beat the sand out of it before we laid it down and now its completely sand and dirt free . Also our astro is "short pile " which is similar to a golf putting green . You also get "long pile" which is similar to a gold fairway .

Hi mate .

Enough astro turf to cover a track the size of ours would be thousands of $s if bought new , but as Steelie said we get it free in the UK because we have outdoor football pitches (soccer to you ), field hockey , and playparks that are made from astro turf and every 5 years or so the local council replace them . astro turf is super hard wearing and even after 5 years the stuff looks brand new .

The problem the councils have is it costs a fortune to dispose of Astro turf because you cant burn it as it has a rubber underlay and it cant be buried in a landfill because it doesnt degrade .The councill then pays a contracter to get rid of it . If you contact the contractors they are more than happy to deliver it to your track on trucks free of charge because they just pocket the money that the councils gave them to dispose of it .

Its a nightmare to lay though as each roll is in excess of a ton . Here is a picture of our first load . Each of these rolls are over a ton each . We used a caterpillar diger to lift the rolls up to have the sand beat out of it and then lifted onto a trailer to be transported into place . Then loads of bodies to drag it into position .....back breaking
