IMO, copper-tungsten alloy is a better choice, easier to machine and not as brittle as tungsten. I don't think the tungsten tray will survive upon a heavy impact.
Most of the tungsten is not pure, mine was MT-17 grade. so about 90-92% the rest is nickel/steel.
Lots of different grades to pick from. I was looking for the most tungsten i could get and still have it be pretty easy to work with.
If the impact is hard enough to break it, I would like to think its going to break a bunch of other things to. I should be safe until ft myers, no cars falling out of the sky in front of me.
