If the 2-speed is not engaging properly, check for wear on the thickness of the 2-speed housing. New housing is abt 0.65mm, my housing that gave us inconsistent engagement was thickness is 0.57mm. It broke during the 45 mins finals. It should be common wear and tear part.

After the race, i tried to figure out what the problem could be.
I took out the 2-speed unit... tried to pull the 2 halves apart... took ALOT of strength to do so.
So I first screwed both shift-point screws all the way in... it was 3 3/4 turns... then took the whole assembly apart... gave it a light cleaning, and put it all back together with the same 3 3/4 turn setting... tested it by pulling the 2 halves apart, and it took significantly less effort than before.
this gives me the impression that something was causing the 2 springs to be 'stuck' (for lack of a better term).
Will take note of the 2-speed housing's thickness. Thanks for sharing.
