You need to pull the sleeve out. Once you do that, you can remove the rod from the crank and pull it out with the piston. Sometimes it's difficult to pull the sleeve out. I keep the flywheel on the crank and put the piston at bottom dead center. Insert a zip tie through the exhaust port which would stick out of the tope of the sleeve. Turn the flywheel so the piston pushes on the zip tie in return lifts the sleeve out of the case. Sometimes the zip ties will break.
